Catfish and the Bottlemen - Heathrow

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWCQMMczTbQ

Perhaps if we didn't live in the streaming era Catfish And The Bottlemen's Heathrow may have become one of those anthemic songs. Sort of a 'Wonderwall' song of this decade. I think it's an instant classic. One of the great songs of the 21st century.

Average at best, and that repetitive guitar in the background was getting on my nerves by the end!

I know I shouldn't judge them by things like this, but I find it simply impossible to like a band called Catfish and the Bottlemen.

I wouldn't call it an instant classic. It's no Cocoon.

Instant Classic ?

No. It's not actually that bad, but certainly not an 'instant classic'.

I am an early fan of Catfish loved them since their debut single but for me the 2nd album is just missing something, its like they have tried to go stadium before the tunes are ready but I guess thats 2nd albums for you, also I guess I lived with the debut records tracks for nearly 2 years before it came out.

But I get the OP point this could have been a 'Drugs Dont Work' or 'Wonderwall' sized hit in a different musical era but now we have a band who had 2 top 10 albums including a number one and never had a top 40 hit single.

It's a bit dull. Typical boys with guitars type music I guess.

I find this fairly average. I quite like the first album but the second isn't anything special. I don't really get why they've become as big as they have in such a short space of time, there's no way they should be playing arenas. If they were playing my local Academy sized venue I'd go and see them but I'd certainly not bother with arenas and I'd not be bothered if I never saw them. Odd that these get huge yet there are loads of bands consistently producing good stuff to fairly small acclaim (The Cribs would be a good example.)
