I think it's Rob Hawthorne and Neil McCann.

Simon Thomas is presenting but I've missed who he's with.

I know. I was most surprised.

I stupidly assumed Sky would throw everything at the coverage considering some people (I'm looking at you, aurichie) suggesting it was such an incredible deal and such a treat to British TV viewers.

It is unusually sloppy for Sky. The commentators are, I suspect, also working for the World Feed as at least one bookmaker (Bet365) is using the same team. Indeed, they were reporting during Sky's ad break.

I think Alan McInally is the co-commentator for Inter v Bayern on Sky Sports 3 but goodness knows who the commentator is (although he sounds familiar). I am equally at sea with ESPNews's team at the same match.

Darren Fletcher confirming he is commentating on the community shield next Sunday....no surprise there.

Also on Twitter he was asked if he was commentating on all the big games and he replied...Yes!

Again i suppose no surprise considering how he ended last season, wonder if BT will announce he is going to be their main commentator for the next few seasons?

Pure madness from BT if true. Fletcher is alright but he's nowhere near as good as Darke, who's head and shoulders above him. Fletcher obviously has a fan high up.

I highly doubt that they will give Fletcher ALL the big games. He probably meant that he will get a majority but it is very unfair on Darke. I get the sense that BT want Fletcher to be the long term voice of football. Similar to John Motson on the BBC or Tyldesley on ITV currently. The issue is though that Darke is too good to be a number 2.

On a different note isn't it about time we got a new part with the new season starting very soon!

Latest update from johnroder.com:

'Back to work in August. Delighted to be returning to Match of the Day for a thirteenth season on the programme, with matches each Saturday in August. A fourth season with BT Sport also gets underway, Ligue 1 action from France for me this month, and it's an eleventh season with Pitch International, for whom I am doing Football League matches. Hopefully a couple of new clients to be confirmed soon, and returning in September to UCFB Wembley to hold classes with students there on the journalism & media courses.

Unfortunately there is no Olympics for me this year, the first time since 1988 that I will not have worked on network TV or radio coverage. The reason being that none of those who have been used on previous football tournaments at the Games have been booked this year, almost certainly for financial reasons. C'est la vie.'

To be honest i wouldnt be surprised if it is true based on the facts of last season from about New Year onwards where Fletcher called just about every big game going with the exception of the Europa Cup semi final which featured Liverpool and off course the FA Cup final.

You would like to think Darke would get a few of the bigger games going even if it was the semi finals of the big competitions that BT cover.

But to be honest not holding my breath on this one.

Well BT love this " young guy's approach" and Fletcher fits the bill nicely and yes he must have a BIG fan high up.

I don't think that's something BT will officially announce that but you'd imagine so.

I don't think he'll get all the big games but I imagine most.

We've had the Darke/Fletch point made numerous times (I hesitate to call it a debate as I think we've all agreed Darke is better) but at the end of the day BT have made their decision.
As I've said before, I find Fletch much more bearable than some others do - and certainly more than some commentators on other sports - and than you'd think from comments from here. But at the end of the day, whatever our views on here, BT have made their choice.

I'm going to get my bet in though for how soon into the Community Shield the phrase 100mph is used on here.

The big question is who their main co-commentator/their co-commentators full stop are this season. I think they were as sure as we were in the second half of last season.

That said Sky apparently using Carragher may mean they're not sure on co-commentary and the decision by the BBC to use Murphy on the Euros final came from nowhere - so maybe other companies too are not sure on their co-commentators.

if that is the case that Fletcher is getting all the big Games it will be intresting to see what happens regarding Darke as his old job as the voice of Boxing for Sky is available
