BT obviously value pre match build up more. It isnt really much of an issue. Those with BT Sport that are really keen to see it still can. But there will be more people interested in the british teams over Besiktas vs Napoli

Excellent that finally Jim Beglin has a major game on a main BT channel rather than being stuck behind the red button.

They could have had Napoli on BTS 1 - it was finished at 7:40pm... Then boom goals show. Not affecting buildup on BTS 2,3 or ESPN!

Although sounds like Bower and Beglin are offtube.

Looking at BT's line up on paper, it's so mixed, obviously decent presenters.

Rio is good from what I've seen but all the other pundits I'd be unsure about. I cannot stand Martin Keown, I'm not sure how he gets work, he's so negative. Fair play on them using Beglin.

Did Sky ever do a British CL game off tube? Were BT offtube for Arsenal?

Was it a late shift? I had intended to record this one and the first I noted was that at 19.40 yesterday the match had shifted on my planner to be Benfica-Dynamo, which made me think I must have selected the wrong game. So what I went back to the planner I was surprised to see the game had dropped off the extra listing. First I saw that the game had been played was the multi screen tease that BT put onto each of the games moments before kick-off saying it had finished 1-1.

All very bizarre...will other matches played in Turkey kick off earlier?

BT did put Astana matches on a main channel last year and indeed occasionally did likewise for Europa League matches that kicked off earlier too (I seem to recall a Lokomotiv-Fenerbahce encounter being shown on the main channel last season)

Plus it stops Sky customers getting the match in HD.

Yes. Because there is no daylight savings in Turkey, since the clocks have gone back in the rest of Europe, all games played in Turkey will now kick off early.

...and on Matchday 6, so will other games of teams in groups where there is a Turkish side playing at home.

I was watching the Manchester City vs Barcelona game via world feed, Jonathan Pearce was awful, he was so biased towards Barca, " they are a fantastic team" " ooooh what a delightful pass" as 1 player passed a mundane ball to another.

It truly was cringe worthy.

Did anyone else notice how many times Owen Hargreaves said 'exceptional' last night? Was driving me mad!!!

Sure at one point he said the corner flags looked exceptional (ok might be making that up) but he just over uses the word that when something genuinely is exceptional it doesn't feel like it is as he uses the word all the time!!!

I'm surprised that more JP bashing doesn't go on within this thread. He hardly ever seems to get a mention.

JP's two buzzwords are "splendid" to describe something good - and "wretched" to describe something bad.

As for biased commentary, try his England commentaries for Channel 5 on for size. He hadn't quite made the transition from Robot Wars at that point.

Dont worry there is plenty of JP bashing whenever he commentates on the BBC live. Just look back to the Euro's!
