Are we presuming Sky's Saturday Premier League games will be on-site for presentation or sticking with the SNF studio (obviously renamed)?

Forsest v Burton Albion- Paul Walker
on beIN Sports USA's coverage the commentator was introduced as Matt Spiro and listed on screen as Matthew Spiro...but it was indeed, as expected, Paul Walker

surprised they have brought in Rachel when they have all the SSN female presenters they could have used

Good news in general that Gary has returned but not in his best role on MNF, I'd imagine he'll be used for the bigger games?

His quote says his role is different and looking forward to new creative stuff so be interesting to see if that means anything or is just marketing speak

Good sensible line up. Probably need lampard in addition to provide the best balance of pundits club wise as man city and Chelsea slightly overlooked at present. (Edit: Quinn can cover city)

Sensible programming, if you add in efl and efl goals a constant flow from 5.30 or 6pm if efl game on fri through to Sun evening.

Good that all matches on demand, including bt games. I presume the bt games will be on demand only (I.e. not part of match choice after midnight or if bt show Sun game no sky highlights on tv) but should mean goals on Sun can show more than a minute.

Also slightly disappointing given their role for commentators to be missed off.

Smith, provan probably deserved a mention too.

Football on 5 - 6 August 2016

George Riley and Lynsey Hipgrave with Michael Gray and Chris Iwelumo in the studio.

Nottingham Forest v Burton Albion - Paul Walker
Fulham v Newcastle United (Fri) - Daniel Mann & Andy Hinchcliffe

Championship roundups: Dave Beckett, Dan O'Hagan, Dan Mason, Faye Carruthers
Michael Gray voiced Blackburn v Norwich and Chris Iwelumo voiced Rotherham v Wolves

L1 roundups: Dan O'Hagan, Dan Mason, Nick Halling, Jack Woodward, Faye Carruthers, Dave Beckett

L2 roundups: Dan Mason, Faye Carruthers, Dan O'Hagan, Jack Woodward, Dave Beckett, Nick Halling

Two voices not previously heard on the C5 highlights show among the reporters, Nick Halling (ex voice of the NFL, used to be on the Football League Show in the early days of that programme) and Jack Woodward (ex Aston Villa TV commentator). Faye Carruthers is also more of a Final Score regular but she was heard maybe 2 or 3 times on Football League Tonight last season.

Has the C5 show got any better than last season?

There's already some Carragher/GNev Tweet argument going round

Definitely. Hipgrave does a good job filling in the presenting shoes and the format currently seems to work with 2 decent pundits alongside the 2 presenters. Gray and Iwelumo are solid people to have.
Certainly when you compare with this time last year, the difference is huge.

In other news, Ryan Giggs joining Ferdinand, Humphrey and co for the Community Shield today. Be interesting to see if he becomes BT's big signing this Summer after Neville's Sky return was announced.

Wonder if Owen will have a role at todays game or if he will be with Darke covering West Ham?

Also, no morning show for BT it would seem for their sporting Saturdays'. Bit of a shame but I guess they don't feel it warrants the time and effort to put together. Fletch and Sav was a roaring success but BTSP before it was a flop. And with Sky putting their coverage back to 11.30, it would have lost a lot of viewers if it had continued to 12.

Well I half expected Savage to be involved, and he is, but with BBC Radio rather than BT which is good. We expect him to be a regular on the Score programme but is that because he is incapable of doing 99% of the live matches because of his 606 commitments? He's also back on MOTD which suggests his commitments are now more centred around the BBC.

Dave Beckett is attending the famous Brackley barbecue this afternoon, and if I discover he said ANYTHING derogatory about Brighton's memorable draw at Derby yesterday, he will not be staying long!

I appear to be the only person in the country NOT working on a football programme yesterday.
To be fair, I was offered a role on the BBC's Football League programme a year or two back, when they still had the rights, but I couldn't do it for health and other reasons.

But, don't despair chaps, I might yet find something that suits this season!

He's at Wembley with Jason Mohammed (according to Mohammed's tweet) covering the game so I assume this would be for 5 live.

EDIT: haha nevermind. It's another Mohammed not Jason

Sportscene Results (Saturday)

(1630-1720 BBC Two Scotland)

David Currie hosted with Stephen Thomson and Michael Grant

(the) Rangers v Hamilton (1230) - David Currie reported over pictures
Kilmarnock v Motherwell - Jonathan Sutherland
Ross County v Dundee - Martin Dowden
Partick Thistle v Inverness Caledonaian Thistle - Alasdair Lamont

Dundee United v Queen of the South - Scott Davie
Falkirk v Hibernian - Kenny Crawford
Dunfermline Athletic v Dumbarton - Charlie Mann (FT only)
St Mirren v Morton - Connie McLaughlin (FT only)
Ayr United v Raith Rovers - Tam MacManus (FT only)

There were no fancy new graphics upgrade, but a new addition is the ability to see the ground rather than the reporters audio when the full times have come in (but not all games are featured in that way).

Whilst at the 4.45pm 'junction' they did do the obligitory season predictions (both guests went for Celtic) but they were about to discuss who(m) would go down until they could finally get a full time.

Oh, and Sunday's Sportscene IS AT THE NEW TIME OF SEVEN THIRTY. Not sure they mentioned it enough at the end of the show.

My spies tell me we played very well!

And stop trying to butter me up, Casinoman, you're too late to replace Darkie at the barbecue!
