Don't think it's been mentioned on here but DigiGuide is suggesting that ITV's team will be...

"Mark Pougatch is joined in the studio by Ryan Giggs, Lee Dixon, Ian Wright and Ally McCoist with commentary from Clive Tyldesley, Glenn Hoddle and Kevin Gallacher."

Have ITV used a three-man commentary team before?

Don't think so but it seems to be becoming a theme for home nations matches... having a representative for both countries in the commentary box. e.g. the BBC did it in the Euro's for England v Wales (Keown and Savage), and Northern Ireland v Wales (Gerry Armstrong and Savage).

They did on the last England v Scotland game they covered.

Agree Howard Webb was very good. I thought it was a shame he was interrupted so quickly though. Wright asked a valid question which would have been interesting to explore but Ferdinand/ Redknapp kept shouting over Webb about what they personally think the law should be and BT eventually just went to a break. Redknapp in particular kept going on about 'the average fan doesn't understand the law' - well Harry, we've got a guy who refereed a World Cup final on the show. Maybe if he's allowed to speak we'll all find out!

That section irritated me as well. Jake should've taken control and allowed Webb to respond.

The programme began with a montage of Friday's live Eastleigh v Swindon Town game, with commentary from Steve Bower and Martin Keown. Maidstone United v Rochdale - Aaron Paul (BBC Radio Manchester)

I think I'm right with the commentators I've listed, if anyone knows any differently feel free to correct me!

That looks like a really weak Super Sunday line up, I know there was no blockbuster game but I wouldn't want to sit through those 2! Still not sure why Sky only had 2 games.

MOTD was good in Saturday, it really is a consistent show each week now despite maybe the odd duff commentary. I do think John Motson is probably due to retire now but the BBC won't "force" him out, it will be his decision no doubt.

Anyway, to other matters

Spurs vs West Ham - 19th November
Rosie & Jim present with Sooty & Sweep

Sure refs make some mistakes (often highlighted after endless replays which they don't see) but most of the time its a 50/50 decision which could go either way.

The section highlighted to me why I haven't warmed to Jake being a football presenter. A 'good' presenter would have like you said took control when the shouting began, let Howard respond and guide the conversation based on what he said. Yet he and (to be fair) the producers allowed it to become an absolute mess

Very Strange list. Having Matterface is particularly strange. I assume he has been picked for his Radio commentaries. Even then they arent that great. Steve Wilson, Steve Bower, Rob Hawthorne, Daniel Mann, Peter Drury, Jon Champion, Clive Tyldesley, and even Darren Fletcher are all better than him.

ITV actually used the three-man commentary team long ago, getting both Liam Brady and Jimmy Greaves to co-commentate on Republic of Ireland against England in November 1990.

That's Ian Hughes (ex of Aberystwyth Town) - Malcolm Allen has also referred to him as a Danny Dyer lookalike.

That'll be Waynne Phillips. he also does reports on either Wrexham or the 92nd best team in the League for Radio Cymru's 'Camp Lawn' sports show on Saturdays.
