With BT having a double-header of PL on Saturday next week, will they do a setup like last year of presenting both games from BT Studios or will they based at the stadium for the later game, which I think they will based at if they are on site?

I think Giggs saying that the Utd penalty incident was a penalty simply because he, a former Utd player, shouted "penalty!" at the time of the incident, was the worst piece of punditry I've heard all season.
Not the greatest coverage by Sky today.

As others have said the 'names' for matches are embarrassing.
I see it's spread to other sports too with 'Duel in the Desert' for the F1 next week. Goodness knows who they're trying to appeal to with these slogans.
Adding these names too doesn't help when the matches turn out to be damp squibs.

The SSNesque graphics pre-match too has rightly been slammed on here - it takes up a lot of the screen and offers little benefit. I know BT use it too but at least there it's normally only on non-live programming which is only be watched by a handful by viewers.

Agree with Cardio on Giggs too. He seems to be fairly in-vogue at the moment with broadcasters but I'm not a fan whenever I see him appear.

Add in the nonsense that is FNF and a few other things and Sky have lost their way a bit. They have seemed to have made changes nobody asked for and for no obvious benefit.

To continue the negative tone, never been a fan of having two Redknapps on TV in one day like today.
I've said it before but I do wish BT would use Jenas as their Spurs pundit or even Hoddle. I do find it odd that Jenas never appears on the Saturday games for BT for whatever reason and is instead on BT Score - especially as he does lots of CL and Europa League for them.

Also while this wasn't on TV and all, not exactly sure this video is Rio Ferdinand's finest hour.

To end on a positive note, a pretty good line-up on PL Tonight.

Surely Redknapp senior is on tonight for his connection to both clubs?

Good point and didn't think of it that way and almost certainly the way BT thought about it.

That said Rio is also ex West Ham and I think for most Spurs games I would say my point still has merit.

I've slammed BT in the past for their constant over promotion but Sky have now eclipsed them and are far worse lately. I find watching matches on Sky totally irritating at the moment due to the amount of on-screen clutter and over promotion.

Firstly Sky's graphics are poor and dated anyway. The shiny look belongs in the past. Then there's the unnecessary and distracting on-screen graphics during games. How many times do they have to tell us about their Score Centre app? Then there's the "Sky Q 2TB viewers can watch in Ultra HD" message. I'm sure Sky Q viewers are well aware of that already as it'd be one of the main reasons they're paying for it. The team line-up graphics at the start of the second half with the players faces is needless and takes up a huge amount of space for no benefit. The SSN graphics really are the final straw. Half of the time it was advertising the game we were watching the build-up for anyway on he right panel. Oh and then there's the 3 ad break half-time. What's happened to them this season?

BT meanwhile have modern, slick and appropriately sized graphics. I enjoy Howard Webb's contributions too.

Almost as if Sky are clutching at straws now with their over promotions.
Also sorry to have to say it again but really didn't enjoy Tyler and Neville today, just seems any possible opportunity Tyler wants to waffle about meaningless facts and Neville just seemed to try his hardest in praising Man Utd even though they were pretty poor.

The involvement of Howard Webb on BT has been the biggest plus for many a long while on a sports channel, never afraid to speak his mind and always gives his reason's why........excellent!

I think the L shape on Sky earlier wasn't the worst idea in the world. Possibly not the best sort of day to have it on - I think on a midweek where there would be a few games on, or if they still had Saturday Night Football, they could probably shove more stats on there and headlines from other games. As mentioned it's been used on tennis and rugby league for a while

BT get the stick because it's on non-live programming, so it gets intrusive when you're watching a non-live game or whatever

Sky were posting about who had the bigger online presence on social media, Ibra or Ozil.

They have lost the plot, BT would have been slammed for this nonsense.
To be fair Sky have had loads of stick for this and quite rightly so, pathetic for so much of their coverage today and for such a big game.

It only works for a multiple game format, i.e. the Goal Shows on BTS.

I can see given the dynamic of the game and the culture why it works for tennis, but I can't believe RL supporters like it all that much.

It's only on screen during pre- and post-match stuff, not while they're actually playing.

Totally agreed with all the above.
In addition to the above you also have Sky promoting whatever's coming up in the next week on Sky Store/Sky Atlantic shortly after full-time. The presenters normally just about get away with it but it is slightly out of place.

Someone at Sky also seems to have discovered countdown graphics and seems to want to use them on anything they can (even counting down to announcing the teams)

I get that there's bound to be some promotion/hype in sports coverage but Sky really have gone overboard in recent weeks.

I really like the BT graphics on the other hand- simple, classy and easy to apply to all their football coverage.
That said there are rumours BT's company logo may change and so I wouldn't be surprised if the BT graphics change next season.

The problem with BT for me is Glen Hoddle and to a lesser extent Owen Hargreaves. I actually think I'm beginning to dislike Hoddle more than Owen. At least Owen is unintentionally hilarious, Hoddle just rambles on and on and on saying 50 words when 4 would do.

Hargreaves is just -"Player x is terrific." over and over again. Every player he sees is the "best in the world" at a particular trait- passing, shooting, crossing etc. It gets so boring.

Jenas is their best pundit/commentator. Use him more.

I take people's points on Jenas & BT, he's always a great listen when on 5Live and the odd MOTD I've seen him on, he's been good. He's got that good skill of being able to offer opinions without being OTT, he's not bland.

It's odd that BT have gone down this "younger" route but then still use a doddery old man who ran his wife over, it's not as if he's the best pundit ever either.

How was the commentary on BT as that line up doesn't look great to me?

Interesting people seem to whinge about Sky graphics, I haven't seem them so can't comment. Maybe just testing things and it will calm down soon. Sky in the past, even if you go back to 1992, have launched new ideas & gone overboard and then calmed down. Look how MNF started with fireworks & cheerleaders before eventually developing into the Keys/Gray show and how OTT Keys used to dress.

Even more recently in the late 90's when they launched the red button, they slimmed down those features quite quickly, new technology gets launched and eventually the right balance is found! BT listened to feedback and I'm sure Sky will.

All of this hype might be because of the viewing figures decline, which I'm still to see whether match averages have changed or whether it's because the longer programs/time slot changes but Sky might be trying to draw viewers in.

Man Utd/Arsenal on a Saturday night MOTD well down he running order, been a while since that happened!

Understand Gareth Crooks had another rant on final score about Swansea dropping a player because he complained about the manager - he does like to have them!

When we all moan about current pundits. It is worth remembering that Garth used to do live games and MOTD.
