Just our luck that the very week BT didn't pick a seemingly nondescript game to put on Showcase that goes and happens!

It wouldnt be a bad thing for Showcase whatsoever. If anything it says here is a great match and a great competition. And some viewers then think actually i would like to see more of it and then pick up a subscription.

Its plausible but may not happen.

BT have to show some matches on FTA as part of their deal. The final is part of that as well so Showcase does show some great matches. They had Barcelona vs Manchester City just a few weeks ago as well!

Drury & Keown looks like an interesting pair but not sure if that's in a good way!

What's Stevie G like as a pundit as I've barely seen him?

One thing BT don't seem to do is have a 'European' guest on like Sky did, some worked and some didn't but Gullitt, Laudrup & others used to pop up and it did add something most of the time

Wednesday 23rd November - ITV

UEFA Champions League Highlights

Mark Pougatch presented alongside Roy Keane and Lee Dixon

Borussia Monchengladbach v Manchester City - Clive Tyldesley
Celtic v Barcelona - Joe Speight
Arsenal v Paris Saint-Germain - Sam Matterface, with Gabriel Clarke conducting post-match interviews
AS Monaco v Tottenham Hotspur (Tuesday) - David Stowell
Leicester City v Club Brugge KV (Tuesday) - Mark Scott, with Gabriel Clarke reporting and conducting post-match interviews

Round-ups - Celina Hinchcliffe and Richard Henwood

Clive Tyldesley was in Germany to conduct interviews with the Manchester City squad, but I'm not sure who was on duty at Celtic Park or in Monaco. Mark Pougatch voiced the goals from the other match from Tottenham's group, while they didn't show any action from the other games in Arsenal or Leicester's groups, with both of those fixtures finishing 0-0.

Gerrard said in his interview with Lineker he'll be covering CL and PL with BT this season. I suspect similar to Henry on Sky, he'll get properly involved early next year. Although I'd put my money on him being available for Liverpool's final game of 2016 at home to Man City.
Don't think he'll be a bad voice once he settles into the role. Could mean Michael Owen is pushed further back though now, given that he was the main Liverpool man with McManaman usually on comms. I do hope not because this has been easily his best season of punditry.

Have a feeling we may be seeing a lot more of Gerrard on BT in the next few weeks.

There was a very good discussion too on BT last weekend about Gerrard & Lampard and generally about ex-players and retirement/players moving into management.

Bit of a second string line-up for that Arsenal/PSG game have to say.

I remember at some stage last season BT did seem to get quite a few European guests on - the likes of Rafa Benitez and Michael Ballack for example - and there were also the likes of Julien Laurens, Rafa Honigstein involved on the second string games.

Even though it was done as a parody of Sky it years ago it is still applicable now, if not even more so to their overpromotion of matches. Great work from Mitchell and Webb.

Knew what that was before I clicked and agreed it's very good.

On the subject of parodies, the Apres Match parody of MOTD also a few years back is fantastic too.
Really does capture the lazy analysis and old boys club atmosphere the show used to have for quite a while when Hansen and Lawrenson were the main pundits after MOTD's return.

No matter how many times ive seen that sketch it is still funny. And still accurate with Rio Ferdinand's age! The funny thing with the Lawro part is that it is completely spot on and brilliantly entertaining. Even now on the rare Lawro appearances he still does some of the things that are done in the sketch

AC Sparta Praha v Southampton - Clive Tyldesley, with Reshmin Chowdhury (as BT Sport) conducting interviews
Dundalk v AZ Alkmaar - Joe Speight

Round-ups - Sue Thearle and Tom Skippings

I think Sam Matterface did the post-match interviews from Old Trafford, while they didn't take any from the Tallaght Stadium. While Mark Pougatch voiced Hapoel Beer Sheva v Internazionale goals after the Southampton edit, curiously they didn't show the goals from Fenerbahce v Zorya Luhansk after the Manchester United edit.

They showed them before it! Because it had a bearing on what Man U needed to do.

Well done RTEtv for showing this game

If ITV still had the champions league live rights, it still show a match of no importance

So the Bilbao game definitely followed Inter's on BT Sport Extra 2 and wasn't one of those games that you could only watch online via BT Sport's website/app? Pretty sure that wasn't advertised as such online. I think all the online TV listing sites missed it. I certainly missed it off the data hub as a result.

I thought it was odd there only being the 7 Europa League games shown rather than the usual 8... or does it vary?
