Ha! That is a very good point. I knew that as well. Having such a flood of commentary details roll in this weekend to process has caused me to lose the plot.

What threw me is somebody added details to the database for Sky as opposed to world feed, and I didn't think anything of it. There's only been three Dutch games added to date so I hadn't yet cottoned on. I'll have to make some tweaks.

EDIT: Sorted.

Sweepstake on who the poster was???

(Disclaimer - The above is a joke post...!)

In all seriousness - Wouldn't surprise me if Sky had a 'say' on who does the world feed as it pretty much is normal Sky voices on it or freelancers not really on BT.

The feedback I got was for a wider range of stuff to be added, and I've found that up until now anything that's added tends to be covered by at least somebody.

As far as the A-League goes however, I've realised that these games don't really fit the current framework because BT make use of Fox Sports Australia's coverage... so it is neither BT's coverage OR the world feed.

So, if anyone wants to keep track of Australian match details, I suggest you make use of what's currently available and stick a note on the end. If I can see evidence of it being something people want to keep a record of going forward, I can come up with a solution to cater for it - otherwise it's not worth me doing anything about it. Cheers.”

Well, the verdict is in...

Any matches from inside Europe that have been made available up until this point have had data submitted, and this weekend proved that more than ever. All 29 matches were covered (with a very high degree of accuracy!), so thank you for all your contributions. I have processed the vast majority of it apart from a few world feeds.

As suspected, the Australian league was snubbed so I won't bother adding those in future. Probably for the best, otherwise it is effectively opening me up to accommodate data from broadcasters all over the world, and it's hard enough as it is keeping on top of what there is currently.

One thing I wanted to query is that Rio Ferdinand was assigned as being the 4th commentator for the West Ham v Arsenal game on BT. Did they go to him for a remark on something during the game or is this a rogue bit of info? I did notice that Howard Webb wasn't asked for his views on camera at half-time like he usually is (presumably because there were no real debatable referring decisions in the first half) but I am guessing he would have been used at some point during the game? Even though I don't like to classify him as a commentator like BT do, Webb is traditionally assigned the 4th commentator role in the hub.

How to categorise Jamie Redknapp on Sky from his gantry position is another thing I will be looking for us to agree on a policy for further down the line with regards to adding data.

We did get the following gem from him "I'm paid to play, not to think". To be fair it was about his playing style.

That said Trevor Sinclair had the punditry moment of the weekend - somehow linking the Chelsea/MC brawl to the Chapecoense tradegy.

Daniel Ormsby has Andy Townsend down as being alongside Jon Champion on the world feed for this game on his website. You are both reliable sources of information so I don't know who to go with on this one. One of you has to be wrong in this instance!

It was David Pleat.

Was Pleat.

Townsend was at the Liverpool game, again with Champion.

Yep, I knew that much. The game in question was from the previous day though so it still could have conceivably been Townsend. Now I know it wasn't...

I dont remember Ferdinand ever being called up during the game itself (only HT/FT as a pundit). Webb too wasn't heard either as far as I remember - but was referenced as being in the truck, and his thoughts. eferred to by Fletcher. Hope that helps.

Thanks. This is what I mean about BT classifying him as a commentator... he appears in the graphic at the start of the game as part of a four-man commentary team but he doesn't necessarily always get asked for input during the game. Or, like last week, his mic buggers up when they try to go to him.

I saw him on Premier League Tonight but I couldn't even be certain he was part of their post-match coverage for this match itself. Maybe someone can at least verify that for me. I had this game on Sky+ at one point but have since deleted it. Should've paid more attention.

Sounds like FNF and BT aren't the only people who can do nickname 'bantz'

From the always unintentionally entertaining Garth's Team of the Week:

Quote:
“‘I found myself howling with laughter watching Match of the Day as Gary Lineker (as I knew he would) took Alan Shearer to task about his definition of a world-class striker. Links absolutely nailed Alan and continued to bait him over the statement that he thought Aguero was the only world-class striker in the Premier League. Well, I’m with Links on this one.’”

A vintage edition - we also had Garth putting Luiz in his team. Nothing wrong necessarily with that - except that he's in there for a pass that Fabregas made.
--
That said do have to say Shearer was talking absolute drivel on Saturday. And the 'World Class' debate is probably the 2nd most tedious discussion in football - right after selfies.
Way too much time is spent in coverage discussing both.

I don't remember him appearing post-match until PLT.

As others mentioned Rio wasn't on commentary at any point.

I'm surprised Andy Carroll wasn't listed as being involved in the coverage given how often they went to him sitting on the bench/warming up etc. or Fletcher discussing him.

Sean Dyche is alongside the usual two on MNF this evening (unless bwfcol tells me otherwise)

I'll take full responsibility on that one. After learning that Champion called the match and that Drury and Beglin were together, I went through all the international feeds commentators Twitter accounts. One of them mentioned they thought Townsend was with Champion both days. I tried to check Pleat as well, but there's roughly a dozen false Pleat accounts there, so I trusted that info, which proved to be incorrect. I apologize for the bad information.
