How was Joleon Lescott? Doesn't strike me as someone I'd really invest in as a pundit!

Carragher again doing a co-commentary, I'd like to hear him one day and see how it goes.

Who was presenting for BT? Jake/Robbie were there based off Twitter.

Busy times for BT with 4 PL games in 5 days and then after that, just 2 in 3 weeks

Thanks!

Dan Walker is on MOTD on Wednesday, long days for the breakfast presenter

No idea why Gary doesn't present it.

Saturday 10th December - Channel 5

Football on 5

George Riley and Lynsey Hipgrave presented alongside Alan Curbishley and Adam Virgo

Huddersfield Town v Bristol City - Paul Walker
Preston North End v Blackburn Rovers - Gary Weaver and Don Goodman, with Jonathan Oakes conducting interviews (as Sky Sports)

Championship round-ups - Dave Beckett, Tom Skippings and Sue Thearle
League One and Two round-ups - Dave Beckett, Will Cope, Sue Thearle, Tom Skippings, Oliver Wilson and John Anderson

Despite it being the live Sky Sports game on Friday night, Adam Virgo talked over the goals and penalty incidents from Brighton & Hove Albion v Leeds United. Talk about a downgraded service when you consider it was one of only three games they had the ability to do a full commentary edit on.

I thought this very odd as well, i actually tuned in to watch some highlights but was most surprised when i heard Vigo talk over the game.

Any reason why you think it was the case?, the game had loads of incidents so would of been ideal to show it with commentary and then talk it over.

Your guess is as good as mine. For me it was a really strange editorial call, especially given how it sounded like it had been an interesting game with plenty of incident (at least going by the updates I heard on the radio on Friday).

When you have an hour-long timeslot (45 minutes after adverts) for just the Championship, and there is one fewer game than usual due to the East Midlands derby taking place today, you would have thought they'd want to maximise the action they are showing by providing the three featured commentary highlights edits available to them. To opt against doing a proper job on one of them in order to provide more padding punditry is simply odd.

On a general note, and I know many of you must be sick of seeing me moan about this on here every time they do it, but Football on 5 having a studio pundit talk over the first run clips of a selected match really sucks. For me it's the one bad gimmick from the early days of Football League Tonight that they've decided to persevere with, and the most irritating regular feature of any football highlights show around at the moment. Having a pundit talk glibly over the clips gives you are far less informative picture of the match than the one you'd get from a proper voiceover and I can't help but feel like they often skimp on the amount of near misses etc shown during such edits. It just feels to me as if you are downgrading your coverage of games shown in this way. It's my only pet hate about Football on 5, which is a shame as otherwise I find it has a solid format and is a programme I really enjoy watching.

Just watchinh MOTD. Pearce at Leicester game going through team news said Fernando suspended when he was playing. When he got to who coming in he must of realised as slight hesitation. Surprised didn't edit it out.

He would have meant to say Fernandinho, who was suspended for the match

Yes, they were different last night, presumably they have new software or something. Seemed a very casual Match of the Day last night, Murphy and Wright in jumpers and Lineker in a checked shirt. Seems a hundred years since they used to wear suits on that show.

As mentioned, SPOTY is next weekend, and he's also doing HIGNFY this week too. And then he'll be working on Boxing Day and New Year's Eve, and then you've got the FA Cup, so if you want some time off then now seems to be the best time to take it.

Yes, I thought this was a bit weird. I suppose it's good that they don't feel they have to show a commentary game as great length just because it's a commentary game, regardless of whether it's any good, but as mentioned, this actually seemed quite an interesting game, and quite an important one too.

Perhaps the oddest editorial decision on the show though was leaving Sol Bamba's implosion at Ipswich to the final part, when we were all dying to see it. Like Alan Pardew's headbutt a while back, it was absolutely disgraceful... that he didn't do it during a live game so all we had to go on for ages was crappy GIFs and Vines.

Not the best line-up at all.

Dunne seems to be BT's MC pundit as he's been on most of the games when MC play but is very nondescript and forgettable as a pundit.

That said don't think today's line-up was any better (in fact probably worse). The line-ups have felt a bit second-string this weekend.

Bad enough having Jake twice a weekend, never mind Savage.

Think most have mentioned the reason behind the latter.

I guess the BBC are probably thinking that Dan Walker will already be in Salford anyway that day doing Breakfast so makes sense for him to do MOTD too - rather than drafting someone else in.

Don't really watch Scottish football but have to say nobody comes across as very professional there.

I'm all for disagreements betweens pundits and different opinions but 'Well I've got a pro licence so there' really isn't something any pundit should be saying.

Very funny punditry by the two Jamies at half-time at Anfield.

I'm guessing Karius isn't on Carragher's Christmas Card list.
