Not a good performance.

Gary Weaver isnt a good omen for Gillingham! Good commentator though, he goes under the radar when talking about commentators but he is very good.
Think general consensus is that Weaver is a solid commentator at about the right level just now. Although I'd rather have Gary Taphouse ahead in the pecking order. Think Weaver can be a bit cliche. He does seem to have a stock list of phrases he uses alot... At least half a dozen times this season he'll say "He has ice in those vains"

It's really not been good so far by BT - feels a bit of a wall of noise from McManaman and Hoddle in particular.

McManaman gets excitable very easily and seems to commentate more as if he's chatting to the commentator than commentating to the viewers. I think he offers a lot to BT but wish he'd calm down at times. Hoddle really isn't concise either and comes up with some utter nonsense.

Nice to get to half time to actually have some silence.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Showing why he's the best. Top class stuff.

Darke was good towards the end agreed. That said, I think most of the BT regulars would have done a fantastic job on those. It was a fantastic last few minutes.

Thought McManaman and Hoddle were poor. I like McManaman normally (and find him one of the better ones of the BT regulars) and find him very engaging but there are games like this where it honestly sounds like he's on Fanzone.
He ends up yelling over other commentators while they speak or chatting away with one of the commentators and almost forgets that he's broadcasting to the viewers at home. It just makes the commentary sound messy and exhausts me as a viewer.

Plus there was an absolutely excruiating period where the commentary team went on and on about Christmas music and Hoddle's "music career". There's certainly a place for humour on commentary don't get me wrong but that really was cringeworthy to listen to.

Not my favourite commentary of the season by any means.

I notice Michael Owen is trending. Any reason why?

BT showed a clip with Jose Mourinho saying Ibrahimovic is a better striker for Man Utd than Owen was.

Danny Higginbotham is Sky's co-commentator for Wigan v Newcastle tomorrow.

I hear Monday's derby is being billed as 'Mersey Monday'. Another cracker from the marketing department as Sky. Whoever comes up with these alliterative billings must be coining it in this year.

Who was presenting at Norwich? Busy times for Scott Minto this week I imagine

John Roder on our game was OK, I quite like him but he had no co-comm & I think that's a hard job on a League 1 game with little to it.

I don't know why BT use Hoddle as co-comm, he was a strong studio pundit on Sky but it is BT's weakness area, strong studio pundits in general but awful co-comms.

It was indeed Scott Minto, with Darren Eadie. Much be an odd position to be in for someone like Eadie, only ever appearing on Sky when one club is playing.

Because he's a pundit people have heard of and people always slag off pundits on Twitter. As we've mentioned before, people like Owen and Savage will always get a bigger reaction on Twitter than people like Davie Provan and Alan Smith because people know who they are. And why Lawro always gets slagged off on Twitter even when he's not on and it's Kevin Kilbane.

Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend are two others who also seem to be constantly slated on Twitter as well. Alan Smith is quite well known, he does the FIFA series as well and has become more known because of it.

Twitter seems to be the place for complaints at the moment, all that is needed is for 10 people to complain about the same thing and then there will be an article on the Daily Mail within minutes.

With respect Steve, as much as most of the above is true, I just genuinely was asking why. He hadn't been trending the rest of the evening (and none of the other BT people had) so was wondering if there was any reason/incident behind it. Nothing more/nothing less.
That said if I was hugely fussed I probably could have looked up myself.

I know the point you're marking though. Easier to criticise bigger name pundits.

Ironically given the example you mentioned in the last sentence one of my friends was chatting to me on Monday about what 'Kevin Kilbane said on MOTD2' when actually it was Phil Neville he was talking about. And before anyone asks I don't know Subaru.

Watching Coventry v Sheff Utd last night, I noticed it was George Gavin's Last Outing for Sky after 22 years.

He looked embarrassed when Peter Beagrie gave him a Kiss on the cheek at the end of the Programme.

I remember when George was quite a mainstay, do the FL72 review shows.

Since the end of the FL72 reviews, he has been very part time, He has only done the League 1 coverage this year.

I thought at one point he was going to cry at the end last night, Until Beagrie gave him a kiss.

I imagine, Scott Minot will host Tonight and Sunday, and Kelly Cates tomorrow

I watched Both games but I cant remember the Comms.

Last Nights game, was the first game I have ever watched Live on the TV, when they have had trouble at the grounds. Not that I'm blaming the Coventry fans, seeing that they were a Steady Premier League Side, and now in there state
