Thanks!”

Yeah it is basically McQueen (occasionally someone else) and one pundit. Most commonly been Niall Quinn (To give it a top drawer Irish look!). It's presented from the SNF mini studio as the match choice bit. Commentary is specific to SS5 Ireland and there is Sky graphics but it is effectively over the world feed like a non-live match with the PL branded replay wipes. There is a reporter but I think only utilised for the pooled pre/post match interviews (as a non-live game). Programme runs 2:30-5:15 usually I believe.

It is a very bare bones coverage essentially. Reminds me of that emergency-late-in-the-day-last-minute-game shown between Stoke and Fulham in early January 2010 after bad weather called off the league cup game Sky were going to show. Crocker and Horne on comms (originally a world feed, but become Sky's comms) with them on commentary with Sky graphics but a bit world-feedy looking (and not in HD, as at the time the non-live PL games usually still didn't have HD then). Jeff/Alan Curbishley in the studio. (7 year anniversary nearly for that!)

EDIT: Said chat from Jan 5th 2010. QPRKeithJ.

Thank you very much.

Is there a website that lists upcoming matches live on TV in both the UK & Ireland? It would be nice to keep track of what's being shown in Ireland without having to manually look it up. My Googling often takes me to the Irish Times' weekly sport on TV guide, but I'm thinking there has to be a better resource than that?

Which sites do you folks use?

Indeed some fantastic posters on that thread. Looking back at it now, no mercy was given to commentators back then and there were some, ahem, 'interesting' opinions to put it that way.

Was a reader at that time but I remember back in the day Leslie used to be criticised a lot for his 'growling' (still to this day don't get that criticism).

Trawling through that thread QPRKeithJ really was spot on with his prediction for Jacqui Oatley ..

Quote:
“Has she got potential as a TV presenter though - she's got the journalist background, calmness on camera and the looks for it. ... I predict she'll be more presenter than commentator in the next few years.”

That pretty much covers it, although they're on air till half 5 every week. Quinn usually is the pundit or co-commentator (unless he is involved in the early game) when Keith Andrews is usually involved. David Craig has been the reporter for most of the matches I've seen, with the usual pre- and post- with the managers and a couple of players on arrival.

It's a slightly odd show. The best thing about the Setanta 3pm kick offs was the chat and discussion about all the other matches, even when they stopped sending reporters to them all, and even though you hadn't seen the goals from elsewhere, you knew all the big talking points. On sky, they show the scores but that's it. I know there's Soccer Saturday for that, but they do struggle to drag it out till half 5 most weeks by just talking about their match.

UK and Irish live coverage of the English Premier League is the weakest in the world.

Everywhere else can mostly see every EPL game live

Once again you're in the wrong thread and it seems like a point that's come from literally nowhere - arguiing with yourself?

However, assuming EPL in your second para means the Premier League - which is the competition's actual name; nobody types German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1 etc, why do we do it for our own league? - then your statement is actually wrong.

Most European viewers are not much better off than UK/Ireland.

Shame your googling didn't take you back here!!!

There is a thread on DS that lists the 3pms on Sky Sports 5 in Ireland.

It used to be part of the main PL on TV thread but there were a few objections.

You misunderstand me.

My question goes beyond the scope of which Premier League games are being shown in Ireland.

I am asking which websites people use to keep track of upcoming matches on TV. For example, two I know of are www.live-footballontv.com and www.wheresthematch.com

However, those two are limited to what's being shown in the UK, so I am asking:

1) is there a site that lists both UK & Ireland together?

and if not...

2) can anyone recommended a good site for purely Irish listings?

If I want to find out which Premier League games are on at 3pm in Ireland, I can - by looking it up - but that's what I meant about doing it manually. I am looking for a resource that enables me to keep track of everything that is being shown in Ireland and when from this point onwards, and not just which Saturday 3pms from England are on.

No worries.

You had quoted a post which referred only to the 3pms on Sky Sports in Ireland hence the misunderstanding.

Anyway, there's very other football that is on exclusively in Ireland.

On my favourite new TV show at 10am every weekday on SSN......

It was Alan Smith & Alan Stubbs today which clearly confused Rob when he just wanted to say refer to "Alan" but obviously couldn't due to the confusion it would cause!

Try seeing the 10+ mins of repurposed 'highlights' of that chat from that said show either promo'ed or shown/padded into every bloody hour after! After a couple of hours pretty tedious.

Looking at those teams for Boxing Day, it's remarkable how Sky have such strength in depth of their co-commentary department compared to the other broadcasters. Here, three of their EFL co-comms, a La Liga co-comm and SFL co-comm all have games. These easily compete with BT's and yet they have another 4-5 higher ranked co-comms on top of that. I don't understand why ITV don't go knocking for the major summer tournaments.

If you were that concerned about clogging the forum, you would have told me that via PM or email yourself.

I didn't want to post a message like that but I didn't think I had a choice. It didn't even occur to me to try the email link but most people have that feature turned off. It must have given you great delight when you clicked on his profile to see that it was enabled.

I just hope people can find it in their hearts to forgive me for this terrible, terrible crime.
