I doubt there will be anymore voters coming forward. I like the idea of the voting awards on here but would it not have been better to do it at the end of the season?

Yes, I enjoyed that little throwback to 1997. They also did one for 1998 a few minutes later. Just having Rangers v Celtic back on the box was a throwback in itself, given that it has been so long - at least as far as league meetings between the two go.

I know I for one would rather reflect on the season as a whole rather than a calendar year. Plus, people will probably be more inclined to vote as they will have nothing better to do when there's no longer any football on TV in the summer.

Indeed, most of which has now gone for a burton. You can hardly argue last night's was different because it was Christmas, it was the first one they've done for exactlly three months, so it'd be easy enough to get everyone on it if it's that infrequent. So I'm pretty sure Kamara has been dropped from it, given his role was completely pointless. Apart from the casual clothing and the dual presentation it now seems pretty indistinguishable from any other match on the channel, to be honest.

As for the value of Rachel Riley (who'll you note was on two channels at once as she was on Catsdown as well), you could just as equally argue that she could do it on her own, I don't think Jeff is all that special on it either. I see Sky Sports News offered us "highlights" of In Off The Bar this morning, including the comedian Iain Sterling doing a keepie-up challenge. News, there.

The new Radio Times is out and it tells us that Steve Wilson is doing Spurs vs Villa in the FA Cup, alongside Danny Murphy. We know Guy Mowbray is at West Ham.”

Wouldn't mind Kammy being kept on FNF - my issue there was that it was a bit of a waste having both Shreeves/Davison/Whelan and him there. Kamara would be more than capable of interviewing players/managers but having another reporter there basically meant his role was glorified jester.

Not seen one person praise the dual presentation which says it all.

Notice the ITV racing coverage is starting today - good luck to Ed Chamberlin on it.
He was fantastic presenting football (the original Chamberlin/Neville pairing is still comfortably my favourite of the various modern MNF formats) and I'm sure he'll be equally as good on horse racing.

I wouldn't rule out a return for Kammy just yet. I think the differences in the latest edition such as a shorter programme length may have been circumstantial rather than a decision to drop him. We'll see...

On the presenting front - I know Friday night games are infrequent, but you would have thought that the other night was the very first running of FNF and the first time Jeff and Rachel had worked together in any capacity. There was no fluency whatsoever. There were pauses to figure out whose line it was and talking over eachother aplenty. If there was a clear need for two presenters, it might be worth working at it - but seeing as I don't think there is, then I don't think it is worth pursuing. Although of course, no matter what - it will be - for this season at least.

Looks pretty genuine to me.

If you ignore the inevitable spam followers, the first few followers to the account were Melissa Chappell (who is clearly in media circles and connected to the IWillKnowSomeone.com link in the JC profile and has tweeted the JC account) and 3 members of the Champion family (one of which has YouTube videos including behind the scenes at ESPN in the US and a reference to "some guy called Jon". There's also a wave from Jon in one of the videos.)

It wouldn't be Jon's first steps into the Twittersphere after the Setanta "commentweeter" for the 2009 FA Cup Final.

Rob Hawthorne and Alan Smith at Vicarage Road.

And an unusual acknowledgement of the studio from Hawthorne with a "Happy New Year, Dave" (albeit prompted from Jones).

Poor old Darren Eadie, forever condemned to pundit only on matches involving Norwich and nobody else. Must be a bit of an odd position to be club-specific pundit, not quite good or famous enough to be allowed to pundit on matches not involving your former club.

Oh, I dunno, I quite enjoyed his commentary last night, he sounded like he was having great fun. Of course you'd hope last night's MOTD would also stop the "The Premier League is only allowed to be shown on BBC1" rubbish that often gets trotted out on this forum.

And we already have a contender for most embarrassing TV moment of 2017 on Goals on Sunday earlier, where Kamara seemed to forget he was on television and offered a somewhat off-colour remark on one of Bournemouth's goals, suggesting what some people might do if Arsenal had scored it. I remember Ian Wright using the same turn of phrase on the Beeb a decade or so ago and Lineker having to do an apology. No apology here, though. Wouldn't have been very convincing after they sniggered over it like schoolboys.

Well, of course two weeks ago Rio pulled out at the last minute from West Brom vs Man U and they had to get Hoddle down from the commentary box, so maybe he's still ill. It was New Year's Eve as well, not sure everyone's interested in working that day.

Originally Posted by bwfcol:

Reminds me of when the Beeb had SPL rights in 2002-04 (because the SPL decided not to sign a new contract with Sky to set up their own channel, which collapsed and so they went crawling back to Sky who told them to sod off), and the Old Firm games were live across the UK. For the first season - during the period they didn't have the Premier League of course - they had all the A team involved, including Gary and Alan Hansen, but by the end it got increasingly less prestigious and the last one was a total dead rubber so they just put the BBC Scotland coverage on the red button.

I also remember that in 2000 there was a very odd Old Firm match that was PPV on Sky and also live on BBC Scotland and Northern Ireland (and the Sky presenters had to say "That match is also live on BBC Scotland" when they plugged the PPV), and The Observer's Sport on TV column (which used to be a fascinating column, like Charles Sale only without any of the score settling) predicted it would be the last league match ever shown on free to air TV. Though of course, it wasn't, but it seemed likely at the time.

Of those Premier League games, they're at Hull, Watford, Arsenal, Middlesbrough, West Ham, Bournemouth and Tottenham. Five of them are all in the south and probably local to most of their presentation team leaving just those at Hull and Middlesbrough (would it have made sense for it to be the same commentary team and Sky Studio presentation?) away from the others georgraphically speaking. Sky could have had two/three of Tyler, Leslie, Hawthorne and Parry down south covering those five games and one of the others up north for the games at Hull/Boro which makes it strange that Mann/Crocker is down for that Boro game. Over the Christmas period, Sky tend to try and reduce the travel of their commentary teams and keep them relatively local to their homes. Shame nobody told Hinchcliffe who's been here, there and everywhere so far.

Good news in that case. I have seen too many fake accounts to be at all trusting in the early stages. Another tweet since then showing an Arsenal match programme and notes takes the believability level up another notch!

Pretty much the same with Ipswich and David Johnson... so when Norwich and Ipswich play eachother - you know who the two guests will be!

Sky do occasionally throw a curveball by featuring James Scowcroft or George Burley on Town games instead...
