Sometimes I give him the benefit of the doubt; in this case he has once again got me to react and I hate myself for it. One or 5 of these might explain it though
![]() They didn't "mock" the referee. It was a shocking decision, that was not a red card challenge. If it was then Phil Jones should've gone too. Yes the studs connected but both went for the ball in an honest challenge. Red cards like this one are killing the game as we know (knew) it. The actual red card challenge came at 0-0 in the second half. The nation stopped production for a week to discuss a similar Rojo challenge that didn't actually connect with the player; this one will be forgotten about and everyone will only see the injustice in the first half red card and say the 2-0 was down to the referee. 2-1 would've been fair (despite the offside). Even those of us watching international coverage are forced to endure this (and the constant, sudden, sideline closeups which causes a lack of perspective). The sooner we can choose a clean feed - on the red button or even online - in this country the better. The rules are there but the interpretation of them from PL refs seems wayward, certainly they do better on the continent but our refs ignore a lot of foul play I assume as they are encouraged to make the game flow, so the job get's harder. Interpreting a dangerous challenge isn't easy but I am not sure all the information the refs get is helping them, two-footed challenges are not illegal for a start, if away from the player they are not dangerous. Rojo should have got a Red Card at Everton but the Palace one was just a media witchunt and again the refs are up against that. |

January update from John Roder's website: 'As usual I have Premier League commentaries for Match of the Day, and live games from France & Italy for BT Sport. I am doing the African Cup of Nations for Eurosport, and a new role as an FA Cup reporter for the Score programme on BT Sport.'

How many live Sky PL games has Ian Crocker done? Must be in single figures?

Different Alan Smith as Notts County caretaker manager announced. Thought we would have another pundit gone manager situation then.

Manchester United v Liverpool is bound to be given some annoying nickname, and be shoved down our throats by way of relentless advertising, Sky Sports News coverage and countdown clocks. |

The last time this game took place it was nicknamed 'Red Monday'. Can't imagine which name it will have this time.

They should probably have more imagination about them than to call it Red Sunday, especially considering they are showing Everton v Man City in the first part of Super Sunday that day.
Can't wait to see what gem the marketing department comes up with after months of deliberation... it's gonna be spectacular. ![]() It's going to be the type of name that makes you think "hey, I wasn't going to watch that game... but I totally am now!" |

I'm thinking Red & Blue Showdown.
![]() Just to clear things up, it appears that the African Cup Of Nations is exclusively on Eurosport this year going by their last adverts and that ITV4 is not showing any games going by the provisional schedules. |

Yikes - PLP viewers have Robbie Savage and Ian Wright as pundits tonight.
Whoever Sky have as pundits on Bournemouth/Arsenal now seem instantly better by comparison. As for the Manchester Utd/Liverpool game - 'Red Armies' or 'Red Rivals' would be my guess for the match 'name'. Or 'Red Rumble'. |

SS are a disgrace in mocking the referee
The west ham player was right to be sent off as his studs went into jones I'm not always a great fan of Neville's co-commentaries but thought yesterday was one of his better ones and he was very fair and balanced in his analysis. Interesting to see Neville on Twitter criticising some of the comments about Mike Dean as being 'disgraceful' and he seemed to include some of Smith and Quinn's comments within that. Some strange Sky assignments over the last few days, with Neville doing three co-commentaries across the BH weekend - now he's cut his workload a bit, it was odd he was used on a few lower profile games. You'd have thought it might be the time to put him in the studio for one. And then Hawthorne did Friday night and Sunday, but maybe not anything this round, With the FA Cup third round approaching, I hope the BBC will use Jenas a bit more on their live coverage, including on co-commentary. |

Probably. Might be into double figures. 3 this decade. A handful in the mid-00s on MNF. Possibly a handful more earlier than that.
I wouldn't read too much into who's done what over the festive period, anymore than you could read too much into the rota of any organisation over Christmas. The hours I worked over Christmas and some of the jobs I did were nothing like what I'd do any other week. |
