Wasn't that the game Carragher was supposed to be doing?

No promotion of this at all on SS1 this morning or on Soccer Saturday. Would have thought they'd have been touting it for viewers in Ireland.

They are deliberately keeping it low-key to avoid confusing UK subscribers; or to induce a ton of angry customers demanding to know why they can't watch the same as Irish viewers.
Is the coverage similar to their main Prem League shows? |

Fair enough. That's understandable. Low key and Sky not words you normally see together!

Coverage is like that of a low key fixture, no hyperbole or faff involved. Everything is pretty much as it is with the rest of their coverage. Same graphics, sponsors and err commentators. I wonder if they are going to rotate their commentators on these games. It'd be great to hear Tyler or Parry do an odd one.
One massive advantage over the previous rightsholder is that the commentators are actually in the stadium*! *presumably - I haven't seen it! |

BT broadcasting from a studio in the stadium with 2 pundits (Rio and Dunne). Actually fairly simple coverage.
Jake calling Rio 'Ry' did make me cringe a tad though. Not everyone needs a nickname - Rio is quick enough to say. I still haven't warmed to Jake's presenting - find most of BT's other presenters far better |

Disappointed that Sky have kept the same titles and graphics etc. Definitely the worst titles they've had for years and was hoping we'd see a change in the music at least. BT's new graphics really are excellent. Simple but they look very good.

I doubt they'll use any of their top 3 commentators to be honest.

Yep the Sky Sports Ireland coverage was basically a 12:45 Saturday game of old, decent but no pyrotechnics. McQueen and Quinn in the studio with 30 mins build up (Like a smaller SNF really) with Leslie and Hinchcliffe at the ground doing the commentary and David Craig was the reporter in the tunnel (for SS Ireland and was the pooled interviewer too for broadcasters). Full time a bit of chat about other results and some analysis and off air at 5:15. -- Talking of hyberbole, on BT - do you know Joe Hart isn't starting for Man City? Gee whizz. |

I dolike BT's new graphics - simple but effective . That said music they used for the titles was awful - though maybe it'll grow on me. Thread favourite Darren Fletcher, Steve Mcmanaman and Glenn Hoddle the commentators Quote:

Thanks.
Interesting that Sat night EFL is being presented from Sky studios – when did that last happen on a regular basis? I used to enjoy the 5.35pm FL games that season because they would always repeat the entire programme, analysis and all, around midnight on SS1 which was great for me as a cable customer because we didn't have access to SSXtra. Additionally, when Sky first gained FL rights in 1996 pretty much all the coverage was hosted from Sky right up until the ITV Sport Channel took the FL out on the road in 2001. |

EFL: Championship - Norwich v Sheffield Wednesday (Sky Sports 1):
Kelly Cates presenting from the Sky Sports Studio with David Prutton and Ian Holloway. Jonathan Oakes reporting from Carrow Road. Commentators - Gary Weaver and Danny Higginbotham Also, will be interesting to find out who is doing the World Feed commentary for Manchester City v Sunderland, with Jon Champion on NBC Sports US, Peter Drury on the earlier game, Bill Leslie at Goodison Park and Ian Crocker over in Limerick for Inter Milan v Celtic later on. |

BBC Final Score
(1430-1630 BBC Red Button 'Channel' 3) (1600-1717 BBC Two Wales & England) (1600-1700 BBC Two NI) (1430-1717 BBC Sport Website / Internet TVs) Jacqui Oatley hosted with Dion Dublin and Trevor Sinclair, with Mark Clemmit on Football league duty in another studio) Hull City v Leicester City (1245BST) - Guy Mowbray (FT only) Everton v Tottenham Hotspur - Ivan Gaskell Middlesbrough v Stoke City - John Acres Burnley v Swansea City - Damian Johnson Southampton v Watford - Chris Wise Crystal Palace v West Bromwich Albion - Robyn Cowen Dundee v (the) Rangers (1215BST) - Roddy Forsyth (FT only) Newcastle United v Huddersfield Town - Derm Tanner Aston Villa v Rotherham United - Andy Stevenson Leeds United v Birmingham City - David Donaldson Wigan Athletic v Blackburn Rovers - Stuart Pyke Burton Albion v Bristol City - Laurence Herdman Barnsley v Derby County - Naz Premji Wolverhampton Wanderers v Reading - Seth Bennett Preston North End v Fulham - Andy Barwell Brentford v Ipswich Town - Marc Webber Aberdeen v Heart of Midlothian - Ian Turner New logo for Final Score which I can only describe as "stopwatch-meets-bent-ruler". Jacqui did say that those who were watching on the Red Button channel would have to switch at 4pm - that didn't happen. You'll notice no one was at any of the League 1 or 2 games, presumbably resources are stretched with Rio de Janeiro. I've no idea if there was a reporter at the 1730 PL game as I was switching around on the olympic channels but when I came back to Final Score they had the teams lined up in the 'current score' corner like you'd see after a preview has happened. Carmarthen Town v gap Connah's Quay (Dafabet Welsh Premier League)
Dylan Ebenezer hosted from Richmond Park, with Gwennan Harries. Commentary is from Mike Davies and Malcolm Allen, with Mark Jones and Tommi Morgan back in their usual role as commentators for the english language red button alternative. Nicky John was reporter, back from maternaty leave (she did one of the live CL games Sgorio showed in July). For the 'web only' results show they've been promting through their social media accounts, it was still Dylan and Gwennan hosting from pitchside, with Malcolm Allen doing the usual jogging around the pitch interviewing the managers (although he didn't get one from a gap Connah's Quay player as he was still traning at the time) as well as failing to score after asking a Carmarthen player to tee him up for a shot. The vidiprinter was shown throughout, with Dylan only mentioning the Swansea City goal as which Welsh players were in any PL squad for today. We also got highlights of Friday's game between Bangor City and Cefn Druids, with Marc Lloyd Williams commentating. This was then shown again when Sgorio came on air at 5pm. |

BT sport advertising upcoming programmes on four separate occasions during the first half of Man City v Sunderland. Talk about excessive.

Sky have given EFL a touch screen for David Prutton and Ian Holloway to use at HT and FT, and probably during the Goals programme.

The EFL studio seems to be the SNF one. Kelly has done a great job so far. Great addition.

But it's still a big studio - she did the opening on a different side of it and then walked over to the seated area. Kelly is a first class presenter - way, way better than Minto. She could arguably be promoted onto PL coverage in due course - I'd say Jones, Thomas and Cates are all pretty much equal standard. |

Is there an actual studio based goals/highlights programme at 8? I thought when I seen the plug it was the same-old voiceover FL packaged show? Or is Kelly Cates hosting a FL Tonight-esk show basically on Sky later?
![]() There is a huge contrast between PL and FL highlights rights - the PL protects MOTD; whereas C5 gets no such protection. Of course it could be argued many people don't have Sky. But the kind of people who would watch a lengthy FL highlights show on C5 are quite likely to - so the C5 audience is bound to be badly affected. |
