The BT Box (or "Pep Cam" as it is today) has returned with a vengeance.

BT's new graphics really are lovely - very clean and simple.
Managed to catch most of the build up from 11.30 on Sky earlier and thought it was pretty solid - effectively Super Sunday on a Saturday. Nothing overly original or refreshing but hard to have many complaints. I can't help but feel that they have made a bit of a meal of promoting the new goals offering on mobile, however (and the app isn't particularly well designed) - it has the potential to be a very valuable and useful service if packaged in a compelling manner. |

Paul Walker on Wigan v Blackburn for the football league highlights on Channel 5 tonight. Gary Megson and Alan Curbishley will be pundits.

Having caught a Bein Sport feed, looks like Champion and Dixon are doubling up as the world feed, which is interesting.

The EFL studio seems to be the SNF one. Kelly has done a great job so far. Great addition.
Agree on BT promoting their live games excessively - I've flicked between the game and the Olympics and even then have seen BT promoting their live games 4 times And the BT Box was back with a vengeance as someone else said - I still think it has its uses but showing Pep numerous times for 30 seconds and often blocking the live play as a result is not one of them BT really do let themselves down - I genuinely they have all the ingredients to have really strong coverage and some good changes made this season. However, they do things or make decisions that make their coverage a hard watch. Maybe I'm just used to him now but found Fletcher OK on commentary and far from the 100mph he is often portrayed at commentating that. As ever when Mcmanaman works with Fletcher, plenty of Fletches but I expect at this point and Hoddle and Webb were doing it a lot too. Not a fan of Hoddle on commentary though at all - much like at the Euros. Would much prefer the commentary if BT just moved to a 2 person commentary team - removing the Hoddle/Francis role - with Webb interjecting when needed. |

Is there an actual studio based goals/highlights programme at 8? I thought when I seen the plug it was the same-old voiceover FL packaged show? Or is Kelly Cates hosting a FL Tonight-esk show basically on Sky later?

To echo the sentiments of a number of previous posters, I too think the new BT graphics look the part. Their graphics' flat design and colour-palette is very en-trend and I like the way they incorporate the new PL branding. It's just a shame they stubbornly persist with the position of their scoreboard at the bottom of the screen.
It's a bit disappointing that Sky haven't taken the opportunity to refresh their graphics. The gloss effect is starting to look very dated. |

Have the rules changed? I noticed the sponsors' on the cricket captions, too.
It's like being back in 1990 when Sky covered sport on Sky One and the sponsors were on the captions. Incidentally, Sky, unlike BT are doing a unified UHD/HD broadcast with the same commentators and non UHD viewers are getting a downscaled version. |

Match choice using slightly updated snf titles, but with (I think!) Hall of fame by the script at titles
I wonder if these will be fnf titles too. |

. As it happens, I personally - especially with new graphics - prefer it on the bottom. |

But that presumes that they think they've made a mistake. I don't think they do feel that way
As it happens, I personally - especially with new graphics - prefer it on the bottom. I remember reading an interview with a BT employee at the time that suggested the decision had been heavily influenced by American broadcasters. |

Oh yes - they clearly don't believe they have made a mistake. I'm judging this based of the negative sentiment that surrounds the topic whenever it is discussed (especially when BT's coverage first started.)
I remember reading an interview with a BT employee at the time that suggested the decision had been heavily influenced by American broadcasters. I for one am grateful that there isn't a kneejerk reaction from most - if not all - of our broadcasters to stuff said online. How often do any of us read, or post, positive stuff on social media? I'm old enough to remember the negativity surrounding the scoreboard when it was first added by Sky. Viewers, used to a clear screen on live football coverage, reacted strongly against it. It also took a few years for other channels to follow suit. |

Saturday 13th August - Channel 5
Football on 5 George Riley and Lynsey Hipgrave presented alongside Alan Curbishley and Gary Megson Wigan Athletic v Blackburn Rovers - Paul Walker Norwich City v Blackburn Rovers - Gary Weaver and Danny Higginbotham, with Jonathan Oakes conducting interviews (as Sky Sports) Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest (Friday) - Daniel Mann and Andy Hinchcliffe, with David Craig conducting interviews (as Sky Sports) Championship round-ups - Dan Mason, Alex Gordon-Martin and Dan O'Hagan League One and Two round-ups - Dan Mason, Nick Halling, Mick Conway, Alex Gordon-Martin, Will Cope and Dan O'Hagan All of the featured EFL matches were the subject of a commentary or voiceover edit, as opposed to having one of the pundits voice the game, which was a welcome move. I really like the new EFL on-screen graphics package, it looks really sharp. Are the graphics we see on Football on 5 the ones they use on the EFL's international feed? |

Doesn't sit comfy with me (PL deal or not) that we are getting these "Brought to you by Tag Heuer / EA" every 10-15 mins. Getting a bit American tv.

BBC will be slightly disappointed you'd imagine with the MOTD rating - 3.1 million (slightly lower than normal I think). It was beaten by the Live Olympics over on BBC2 - 3.6 million - so not even the most watched channel at the time.
Judging by the hype MOTD (or more specifically Lineker's pants) was getting from the Beeb I assume they expected a bumper rating. |
