One day to go until SSN's version of Christmas in Deadline Day.

This year they seem to not even be waiting for the day itself to start going wall-to-wall with it.Every show bar 'Through the Night' seems to be 'Transfer Centre' so far this week and all (again bar 'Through The Night') seem to have that gigantic newswall showing a transfer countdown.

Their coverage of the thing is basically a parody of itself at this stage and frankly embarassing to watch. The whole thing feels like a gigantic in-joke at this point.
The live they did with Jeremy Langdon just now really was poor. I think they've trying to top that 2014 Deadline Day - with the 1am deals, dildos, spray cans - which I'm not sure is possible especially if the deals aren't that big.

Noticed Jim White is doing a daily show on Talksport from next month between 10am-1pm. Has it been confirmed if he's continuing on SSN?

Yes, he will be doing double shifts from next month so you will still get your daily dose of Jim White.

Just on this, this will be a permanent thing moving forward, White is taking over from the outgoing Colin Murray as talkSPORT weekday mid-morning show host from Monday. I don't think it will affect his Sky Sports News commitments, NewsCorp are in the process of taking over talkSPORT so presuming the takeover gets regulatory clearance and is formally completed I imagine arrangements like this won't be a total rarity in the future.

Interestingly, it looks like the ITV highlights shows for England matches can now include highlights from the other qualifying matches played so far. It used to be that ITV could only show England highlights in those shows on the same night (because as rights holders they can repeat them as many times as they want) but all the other matches would have to wait until the end of that "round" of fixtures to be shown.

But Sunday's highlights in both the Radio Times and the EPG suggest they'll also be including highlights of Scotland, with Ally McCoist as one of the pundits. It's also going to be 75 minutes long and if the whole show was devoted to England highlights that would be very, very dull indeed (not that I'd put it past them). So that looks a bit of a step forward, if it's happening.

They're still doing a show on Tuesday including every fixture. I wonder if it might be because no home nations are playing on the final day of qualifiers? Anyway, there you go.

AFAIK ITV's deal allows them to show same-day highlights of other games in England's group. So that's where the Scotland highlights will come from.

Hopefully they will include all the home nations highlights since they can do it now, would be a bit pointless to just include England and another home nation.

EDIT: Although only England and Scotland are playing that day I think so I think it's a fair deal... And NI.

Oh, you're probably right, actually. Northern Ireland are also playing on the same day, so we'll have to wait and see, I guess.

It would look bad to have highlights of two home nations and not the third. Even if there are obvious rights reasons for it, I'm not sure if it would make sense to the audience.

Don't think Fletcher will be getting all the big games this year, I presume that Derek Rae will be locked down on Celtic games so he might be doing Celtic's first game against Barcelona.

If Rae is locked down on Celtc then there will be the issue of who Celtic V City and City V Celtic. (Both play twice together) I think Rae will get Celtic V Manchester City and Fletcher getting the re-run going by Fletcher's game history.

Presumbly Peter Drury or Guy Mowbray will get some British team games as well?

No, there wasn't - not for that game.

We can cast that FNF game to one side now, what I'm getting at is that Carragher and Redknapp have both assumed the role of a gantry analyst (that's the term I'm going with!) for two separate matches so far.

What I'm asking is how would you describe their role. I listed the traditional roles as an example. Would this analyst role up in the stands still fall under the category of guest/pundit for your folks money?

BT have made it clear that Fletcher is number one, he will get the majority of the big matches. Derek Rae will stick to Celtic as you have said. Darke will probably be the number 2 commentator on the British teams and may get a big match along the way. But Fletcher will have the vast majority of big matches. Drury will be 3rd commentator and then one of Pearce, Champion or Mowbray to do the remainder of matches.

I would love to see Derek Rae get all Celtic games but would seem likely that Fletcher, as their number 1, will get the City game at home at the very least if not the away encounter.

Fletcher will get all the biggest games going where possible as well as Europa games with Utd at a guess.

On a positive he cant do every looking decent game in 6 rounds so Ian Darke should have the pick of decent second games with then like you say Peter Drury and Guy Mowbray along with Jonathan Pearce the rest.

Jon Champion should be used for more of the decent games in the Europa cup.

From quater final's onwards Darren Fletcher will pick up every big game going even if it means travelling from one country to another in 24hours.
