No, there wasn't - not for that game.

We can cast that FNF game to one side now, what I'm getting at is that Carragher and Redknapp have both assumed the role of a gantry analyst (that's the term I'm going with!) for two separate matches so far.

What I'm asking is how would you describe their role. I listed the traditional roles as an example. Would this analyst role up in the stands still fall under the category of guest/pundit for your folks money?

Sorry for the confusion.
I would describe the gantry person as an in-game analysis commentator.

Just looking at the week 1 fixtures, I think Darke will get Man City v Mönchengladbach and Spurs V Monaco, Fletcher getting PSG V Arsenal, Club Brugge V Leicester and Rae getting Barcelona V Celtic. Think for the first week Drury and Mowbray will get Red Button games only.

I would love to see Derek Rae get all Celtic games but would seem likely that Fletcher, as their number 1, will get the City game at home at the very least if not the away encounter.

Fletcher will get all the biggest games going where possible as well as Europa games with Utd at a guess.

On a positive he cant do every looking decent game in 6 rounds so Ian Darke should have the pick of decent second games with then like you say Peter Drury and Guy Mowbray along with Jonathan Pearce the rest.

Jon Champion should be used for more of the decent games in the Europa cup.

From quater final's onwards Darren Fletcher will pick up every big game going even if it means travelling from one country to another in 24hours.
Makes sense for Fletcher to get the Celtic/MC games for me. If he's their Number 1 commentator it makes sense for him to do those games.

Will be interesting to see Fletcher's role. He'll get most of the big games I assume but we could end with a scenario where he's working Tuesday-Saturday (Tuesday-Thursday on BT's European games, 5 Live on Friday and BT's Premier League coverage on Saturday). If he does all those you at least have to admire his work ethic.
I'd hope though Darke gets the main game on one of those European days. We can be pretty sure he'll get some games at least.

On the last sentence, to be fair that wouldn't be confined to Fletcher. Towards the end of last season Owen Hargreaves and Steve Mcmanaman were constantly on BT's European coverage - both probably appeared even more than Fletch.

Premier Sports doing a BT then with 3 commentators then, probably by 2020 everyone will be using a 3 man commentary team.

Why? Coverage was very good, apart from Robbie Keane's goal celebration being missed.

I experienced that live coverage in the past. Its like TV3 in Ireland, its exactly like a Irish version of BT Sport's English football coverage

Derek Rae tweeted that he is covering Barcelona v Celtic in a few weeks time in the Champion's League.

Really pleased for him for getting such a big game, did have a feeling Darren Fletcher may of scoped it.

Excellent to see Rae get the Barcelona V Celtic game, going by the tweet as well it appears he may do all but 1 Celtic game which I think will be Man City V Celtic.

That I think leave's Fletcher on PSG V Arsenal and possibly Darke on Man City.
