A very high profile weekend for Mark Scott on the Beeb - yesterday he did an in-vision piece for Football Focus, did the 5.10 bit on Final Score where they chat to a commentator and then got the main match on Match of the Day. I know the latter was just a bit of luck because there were higher profile games, but it looks like the Beeb are going to use him most weeks now. Fair enough, because I think he's quite a good commentator.

Anyone else find that the picture was running slightly behind the sound in the first few minutes of Palace v Stoke?

Did David Garrido present GOTD last night?
I missed the full horror of Friday Night Football because I was doing something else, but flicking through the recording we did seem to lose some of the excesses of the first one - I see the pub stuff had been excised completely, with only the briefest mentions of In Off The Bar, and there was slightly less contrived humour. It looked like Chris Kamara had been calmed down a bit too, less running around and telling us what a dugout was. And the team news actually was at seven o'clock, as opposed to last time when they were in an ad break when it was announced - though quite what the point of a "X minutes to team news" countdown is, I don't know. Still seems pretty weak, though. The Klopp interview rather summed up the pointlessness of some of what they were doing, though, in that Jeff and Rachel were asking the questions, but then the link went down and Klopp couldn't hear them, so Geoff Shreeves just took over cos he was standing next to Klopp anyway. He may as well have just done the whole thing. And I don't know why you try and add glitz and glamour and then give us endless sequences of the pundits scribbling on the touchscreen. It's not detailed enough to tell us anything illuminating and not short enough to be interesting. |

Yes, we'll await confirmation of the pairing for Tottenham v Sunderland later, and if it isn't Alan Parry on comms, then that will be indeed his second weekend missing out so far this season.
Bill Leslie has another Premier League match, and well deserved, I like him. Also, I like Andy Hinchcliffe's co-commentaries, and he's on another PL match, so both are doing quite well so far this season, and long it may continue! |

Apparently, back in 2010 - the Championship play-off final between Blackpool and Cardiff that was live on Sky had two sets of different commentators. Bill Leslie and Don Goodman did the commentary on Sky Sports 1 whereas Daniel Mann and Gary Birtles did it on the Sky 3D channel.
I'm not someone who ever experienced 3D football coverage. On the face of it, I can't think of a reason why there would be different commentary available. I'm sure that a lot of people would be glad of a choice of commentaries from game to game, but would there have been any particular reason for not using the same audio track on both channels? Would it be because it was filmed using different cameras to standard HD, meaning that there would have been the potential for comments to be made on things that the viewer wasn't seeing at that time? |

Haha, thanks all for replying in unison!
![]() The possible explanation only occurred to me as I was typing, so I bolted that bit on the end of my post. Like I say, I never saw a match in 3D so it wasn't immediately obvious to me. |

![]() I know there was no live UK football, but come on guys! ![]() I was thinking of my dream line up of a game, it is Humphs, Jamo, 'Arry & Dwight Yorke Commentary from Fletch, HargyHargreaves & Mickey Owen. Reporters include Piers Morgan & Roland Rat. Any thoughts? |

I know some of the thread quite like him but he'd be a nightmare in that 3 man setup I reckon and I'm not a big fan anyway. |
