You're right. Dawson works as a rugby union pundit for 5 Live now though, and was replaced by Monye on BT.

Correct. I was surprised to see this too.

Leicester v Porto got 374,000 peaking at 598,000
CSKA v Spurs got 113,000 (peak 169,000) plus 90,000 (peak 151,000) on Showcase.

Interestingly Dortmund v Real Madrid got 103,000 peak 156,000 on ESPN (shorter build up).

Seemingly a lot of people may have switched to SSN at 10 following the conclusion of these games as that rated 217,000, highest on sport behind only Leicester.

(I will get round to posting further ratings in the football ratings thread for the season so far at some point I promise!)

Lineker is humourous and informed on Twitter when he comments on breaking news, politics of the sport.”

I actually think Jake Humphrey the person is a quite likable and decent bloke. But when he steps into his BT shoes I'm pretty sure he thinks he's some kind of God.
I think I read somewhere that he got picked on at school and he obviously didn't do too well in his GCSE's
I also remember when he posted that video combating those who called him smug. I think he'd be quite good on a fan show where he talks to the fans, gets involved and has the chance to be a little more boy-strous. But let's be fair. He's gone from CBBC shows to F1, to presenting a sport he loves pretty quickly. Although it's annoying, you can't completely blame him if the success has got to his head.

And for confirmation it's Lineker with Ferdinand, Dunne and Chris Sutton on the Celtic match with Fletcher and McManaman on comms. Sort of disappointed that it wasn't Sutton in a 3 man team ('Fletch,' 'Macca,' 'Sutty,' if you will ) but it would probably have been chaotic. McManaman's first commentary in a 2 with Fletcher this season I believe.

I just hope the commentary team isn't going to be biased to Manchester City.

Ferdinand seems to have appeared on every one of the 'main' CL games so far I think hasn't me (not sure about qualifying but certainly for the group matches)?

After the Euros where there almost simply had to be a Home Nation representative on commentary come what may - so we ended up with Mark Bowen on a semi-final - it's a little different to just see a 2-man commentary team on a game involving 2 home Nation sides.

Ferdinand did every 'main CL' game last year I believe. It might seem like a bit of an overkill but BT use him sparsely on their PL coverage (generally saving him for the bigger clashes) so it's okay. I think you also gt this sense of positive continuity. You know Ferdinand is in that top bracket of pundits at the moment so if he's covering every main game with Lineker hosting, you know the coverage of that game is in good hands regardless of who the other pundits are. It is the complete opposite of the PL continuity by which Humphrey does almost every game and Hoddle is on commentary for almost every game. This isn't quite as positive...

I did rate Humphrey for the vast majority of his BBC tenure. I did find him a bit insufferable at the 2012 Olympics though. I do have it on good authority however he's actually a very nice person

Another 3 man team covering Arsenal-Basel, Hipgrave with Ian Wright, Owen Hargreaves and Michael Owen. Once again don't know why they can't have Wright and Owen with Hargreaves on commentary instead of Keown but never mind. The one plus is that it is a strong line-up for a 2nd choice match.

In fairness, it's not too bad from him and Macca. Barring Macca's particularly waffley discussion of the first goal he's done alright and at least conveyed the excitement and full throttle nature of the match (thus far).
