Thanks for that - and good point re promo shows.

I just came across this as I was flicking channels. The picture quality is weird — it looks more like a stream than a conventional TV broadcast.

Trying out the new Sky Q side by side view tonight. It's great, two HD feeds for the main games or ability to switch to any other game.

I could have swore I heard Houghton call Hawthorne "George", he must have forgotten which commentary box he was sitting in.

Unfortunately, the ITV Press Centre website has lied to me this time regarding tonight's pundits, its actually Gianfranco Zola and Gaizka Mendieta joining Jacqui in the studio, with Sam and Andy on comms.

I'd love to see a spreadsheet if somebody had ever taken the time and effort to keep one going. Would make for a fascinating, if rather geeky, read!

Would recommend checking out When Football Changed Forever, off of ITV4 last night - lots of fascinating clips from the 1991/92 season, including loads from The Match and Saint and Greavsie. There was a Gabriel Clarke report on Danny Baker doing 606 which I've never seen before.

To be quite truthful, and extremely geeky, I've been keeping a spreadsheet, charting all the details for this season's Sky and BT Premier League coverage, the EFL on Sky, the National League on BT and all the UEFA Competition matches BT show.
The new one being set up now is the FA Cup, ready for when the action starts.

If anyone wants a read, then I will post some mid-season and end-of-season statistics with all the commentary details highlighted.

The reason I posed the question is because if nobody is recording the information posted in this thread then I thought it might be a good idea to start doing so.

I can set up a web page which enables people to enter things like who the commentators, pundits and presenters were for any given game and can make it churn out some code which will allow the individual to copy and paste the output into this thread. That way, the traditions of this thread can be maintained whilst keeping a record of things that interested parties can reference at any time.

If that all sounds too complicated and too much trouble, to me it couldn't be simpler. Maybe I'll set something up as an example and a trial run?

Hehe, don't be ashamed! Is it just live game data you have been logging?

I have been building a website about the history of live football on TV and have logged details for many of this season's games myself. That's why the framework for what I suggested above already exists, and it would be great if you guys were interested in helping out. I think it is a site that will be right up all of you folks' street.

You might be interested to look at the end of season analysis on the live Premier League, Football League and SPFL commentators that I did at the end of last season.

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...postcount=8459

And it would be downright rude of me not to also plug Steve Williams' end of season stats which are for all football coverage on the BBC.

Great stuff, thanks.

As a relative newcomer to his forum/thread, I wasn't aware that you and Steve did such a thing. That's exactly the sort of thing I had in mind.

With what I propose, however - it would remove the onus being on one individual like yourself to log all of the data on their own. It would be more of a collaborative effort. Folks could enter details into the database directly themselves and for those folks who prefer just to post in this thread, I'm sure there would be enough willing volunteers to enter the information that they have provided into the system on their behalf, crediting them in the process.

It's an idea that's a lot clearer in my mind than probably what I am able to convey to you guys at this moment but I will try and illustrate what I'm on about and how it could work in the coming days.
