After what was previously discussed, here's what I've come up with as a means of utilising the information posted within this thread.
The limitations of this trial are that it only includes live games involving UK clubs this season, but if this proves to be a success then it can be expanded upon.
Matches will appear at the top of the list on the day that they are played, ready for presenters, guests, commentators and reporters to be added. Given that there are no more club matches scheduled until tomorrow night, you folks might want to pick a game that hasn’t had any details added yet (marked with a red cross) to test the system out. You can use the details that yourself or others have previously posted within this thread to manually add using this application. Of course, the idea going forward is to simply add the data as and when the matches happen – without the need to trawl back through the archives and add things retrospectively.
For each different broadcaster that any given live game has (for example, a cup final could theoretically be shown live on the BBC and ITV - at least in years gone by! ..and would therefore have two separate sets of commentary teams etc), a tick, cross or question mark is displayed next to it. A tick indicates that all of the details have been added for this particular broadcaster and has either been approved or is pending approval. A question mark means that only partial information has been added or it has not been marked as complete yet. A cross indicates that no data whatsoever has been added yet, so if you know the details – you can add them yourself.
People’s bread and butter here is the commentators (hence the name of the thread) but the idea is to include all other broadcasting personnel as well. If you think an entire line-up is complete, you can mark it as complete which I can then approve and lock down from further editing. This is to prevent the data we have worked so hard to collate from being sabotaged given that it is publicly available to modify. I’m sure that wouldn't happen mind you and I expect this to be a pretty niche site that only a select few will frequent, but I’d rather not leave it to chance! It also saves me from having to create individual user accounts for you to login to which would detract from the ease and convenience of this tool. The information itself will be available to view at all times however. If you ever spot that anything’s wrong or missing and you can’t physically change/add it yourself, let me know either by posting in here or sending me a private message.
I have written some basic usage guidelines on the site itself but one thing I will say is that the most effective way of assigning a person to a role is to click the relevant field and start typing their SURNAME as opposed to their first name. This will hopefully bring up their name by way of predictive text. Any people who are not yet in the system can be added manually.
As for the stats section, it’s pretty bare at the moment to say the least but there’s not that much data available yet. There’s no end of stuff I can put here and will do so in due course. This is merely a placeholder page for the time being.
You will see that every match which has had broadcasting details added to it has the option to copy and paste ready-made forum code into this thread. We can either agree on a standardised format to post this in or I can add in some more templates to choose from depending on your preference.
This is not particularly mobile-friendly but I would assume that most of you would be using this site on your PCs/laptops?
I think I’ve covered everything (or at least most things) but have a play about with it and see how you get on.
Any problems, queries or suggestions – let me know.
Cheers. Hope you like it!
