Headphone Hum
I use headphones alot, in the past couple of years ive been using a pair of Sony MDR-V500 headphones usually through my Sony STR-DB1070 amp and never head any hum but the second pair of headphones broke so I just got a cheap pair of Sony MDR-XD200s as a temporary solution. Lastnight was the first time I had used them and while it was quiet I noticed that there is a hum that stops when the amp is turned off. Tried my Dads cheapish Technic headphones and I can also notice the hum but not quite as much.
I'm wondering if the hums always been there and the V500s were of sufficent quality to cut it out somehow, anyone know how likely this is or has the amp or something else developed a problem? |

See if any of the connecting cables for the amp and its peripherals (phono cables etc...) are anywhere near any transformer packs (them big black power adaptor things you get with some things), move them away and it should dissapear. I have had a problem like this before, that solved it.
