Sunday. Then the 8.30 eps should move to Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30.

Prompting the BBC to do some rejigging. Job done.

So you think it should air Sunday to Friday at 7.30pm. Interesting. I'd love that personally, but ITV would hate to do it as it would lose their precious 8.30pm lead-in (even though it invariably does nothing to help the 9pm shows anymore).

Further the BBC would probably be really reluctant to move Tuesday and Thursday's EastEnders episodes out of 7.30pm.

I like that.

Quite fed up with doubles though. Wonder if they'll be around forever.

I doubt the BBC would give up the 7.30 slots for EastEnders and why should they? It's been there for 30 years.

They haven't rolled over to the Emmerdale hour longs which I could see becoming a permanent fixture again soon because for ITV you can never have enough.

It'll go on Sunday or Thurs 8.30pm. Or they'll make Wednesday a third double night.

Sunday would be a good slot most of the year but it'll be thrashed by Strictly in the autumn months.

The doubles are annoying but probably a necessary evil with so many episodes. They think people have no lives.

I don't trust ITV not to bring back the permanent hour long Emmerdales at some point. They've shown with the sixth Corrie announcement that the creative well is dry.

That's technically adding on a SEVENTH episode

Doubles can do one. I can take hour longs I suppose if no other option is available, at least they're not structured a certain way just to lead up to a 'same day' cliff hanger.

I can't count. Just an hour on Wednesday then. Sorry.

plus it would have to be moved for the x factor results and probably the voice results if it was in the sunday slot

I think 8:30 thurdays just because it suits me better

X factor starts at 8.
I'm a Celeb at 9.
Only the live BGT semi final on a Sunday for one day of the entire year will clash.

Depending how the X Factor rates this year, there could be a chance that ITV will get rid of X Factor (I think their contract is up for renewal at the of this year) and put Corrie on a Sunday which is the much preferable option as the XF long past it's sell by OR do what they use to do years ago and have the results show on a Saturday. Although there is a risk that it will go up against Strictly in the autumn.

Corrie needs to be on a Sunday because it's nice to see the residents when they are not at work etc.

Definitely Sunday. It allows for a lot more scope in terms of storytelling with characters being off work and having the freedom to be more leisurely, in turn leading itself to more social interactions.

Can somebody remind me - when Corrie used to have a Sunday episode in the '90s, was it always "set" on Sunday (with the usual over-egged church bells in the background), or were some of them just nondescript weekday episodes or a continuation from Friday (or maybe notionally set on Saturday)?

Firstly, we don't need any more episodes. 4 should be the maximum ( 19:30 Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday) - Quality over quantity.

That said if we're going to have six episode above the extra on Sunday at 19:30

Thankfully that tripe is staggering towards its end as is the 'jungle' rubbish.

ITV should be aiming for fewer episodes of all soaps not yet more.It highlights the lack of good creative ideas at the network which makes most of its output unwatchable.
