Most successful romance has to be Jimi and Flavia but my favourite to watch was Ali and Brian.

I just hope Neil and Katya don't do one of those ghastly "periscopes" that Ola and James do when they're trying to drum up a bit of publicity.

Periscopes do seem to be quite the 'in' thing at the moment! I think that because of the way it's set up, it's a great way of being able to directly interact with your fans and I think it's quite commendable of celebs taking the time to do them. Quite a lot of the Strictly related couples use them, Ola and James, as you mentioned, Janette and Aljaz, Georgia and Giovanni. Jeremy Vine also uses it quite a lot and Pixie Lott has chatted with her fans on it before.

I am guessing that periscopes are now thought to be OK then

![]() - singling out a dozen or so celebrities for praise of their social media activity, providing links for ones of interest to posters on here, and then being accused of being part of 'another coordinated wind up' - I do object to that slightly.

I thanked you for the links as Pixie, Aljaz and Janette are of interest to me. But I'm not interested in that, or other straightforward posts of mine, being turned in to anything else or laughed at. I'm on this forum for the new series of Strictly.
Furthermore, the bit that you've construed as a windup was presumably the fact I included a video of Pixie in response to Lou saying Periscopes were 'awful' and used to drum up publicity. I concede that I put that there deliberately in response to her saying that but it wasn't part of a windup, merely as evidence for my point of view that celebs don't generally use it for publicity. I can see why you would argue that the Jordans sought publicity (especially considering half their Twitter/ Instagram posts are half naked pictures of one of them) but I'm sure you and Lou would agree with me that celebs like Pixie Lott, Jeremy Vine, Aljaz and Janette and Georgia and Giovanni do not purposefully seek publicity in general and therefore wouldn't use Periscope as a means of drumming up publicity. So Pixie was used as evidence because I'm certain that celebs like her would use Periscope for genuine and honest reasons as it's an excellent way of interacting with fans. Edit: Apologies for taking this OT. |

I wish I hadn't bought up the ghastly Jordans and their periscopes Ochre. It's such a shame because Ola has always been one of my favourites and I was beginning to warm to James a little when he was doing the ITT presenting. Not sure if this sounds snobbish or mean (or both) but I think one of his issues is that he is simply not all that blessed in the intelligence department. I really don't think he sees that his tweets and protestations simply come over as bitter and whiny. He's not the "bad boy of dancing" which he thinks he is - just a bit of a moaner

Exactly. All you initially did on here was post a tweet from Georgia, firstly it was suggested that she had done something profoundly odd and today it has been claimed she did it for publicity. As I say, if people want to suggest that they don't frequently criticise Georgia when she is mentioned on threads often for innocuous things and very disproportionately when compared to other celebs discussed, .that's fine, but I'd question whether they genuinely and honestly believe what they write!
Indeed so! See this post for example! ![]() ![]() ![]() Regarding periscope I think different celebs have different motives for using it. I like how Janette gives Strictly fans some backstage insight. Anyway it's all cool, with the pro lineup confirmed and celeb announcements now having started the new series is here. And back on topic for this thread lets see who the new romances/showmances involve. |

I can't help feeling that if they'd stuck to dancing, and not gone down the celeby route, things would be different. There's loads of ex pro's out there still trading on SCD years after they left. |

However they're one of Strictly's strongest couples, they always have and still do seem genuinely in love as well as being a great match as dance partners. Been married something like 12 years I think. |

I think his point was the opposite - that Brenda is too honest (like him) and wouldn't allow himself to be used to "rig the show" as James claims the judges do in collaboration with the producers. He was basically saying that Brenda is too good for it. As far as I'm aware, he and James have always got on fairly well.

Absolutely, he is as thick as mince. I didn't like his presenting either. He shot off his mouth on SCD and on CBB, his justification being that he was just 'telling like it is.' I can't begin to say just how much of an excuse making, cop out I find this phrase.

There's loads of ex pro's out there still trading on SCD years after they left. If ever there was a case of someone believing their own hype (not that there was terribly much, and most of that self made) it was Mr Jordan. Unfortunately, take the prop of Strictly away and what are you left with? I think he had ideas of being the new Eamon and Ruth - but TV presenting isn't as easy as a good presenter makes it look - and James isn't quick enough on his feet mentally (if you can unpick that!) for live TV. |

A straightforward post on my part relating to a discussion between other posters I wasn't really involved in but read with interest.

Sorry, I'm confused with what you've done here. Are you pointing out that whereas you argued that Georgia was using her relationship with Gio for Strictly publicity, I did the opposite and praised Jeremy, Pixie etc. for using Periscope??
![]() Yes I think the intention behind that tweet of Georgia's was personal publicity. I was very straightforward and honest about that. We don't need to agree. On periscope I'd watch any Strictly related ones Janette and Aljaz do due to my interest in the show rather than their relationship, though I love them as a couple. |

As I think you realise I was pointing out you quoted a simple comment of mine from elsewhere to laugh at with others on a windup. But like I say it's all cool.

I did above lol.
The reason why I haven't been understanding what you were saying was because I wasn't using it as a windup in the slightest!! I very much enjoyed watching Lisa in the show and thought her partnership with Robin was magnificent. Naturally I wholeheartedly concur with your comments regarding her weightless. In a post just before that I was saying that I thought it was great that we had positive discussions about so many celebs, Lisa Riley being one of them - and I used your post to exemplify that! I swear on my own life that that wasn't being used as a windup!!! Jeez!! The post later which I laughed at was when someone described her as Mrs Funnity Fun which I thought was a rather amusing name. |
