22LG3000 and audio in from PC
Hi all, been a while!
Got given an LG 22LG3000 and using it as a PC monitor, my understanding from what i have read online is that you can use the HDMI for video from the PC (Which i am as i type this, using a DVI to HDMI cable) and use an audio cable (3.5mm jacks on each end) to go from the pc to the TV's Audio in port. Alas, i have tried and tried and cannot get audio from the PC to the TV. Am i trying to do something that cannot actually be done, or am i missing something daft? Only thing i have yet to try is a new audio cable. Thanks |

First off double and triple check you have the PC and TV connected correctly.
The DVI to HDMI cable should be connected to HDMI 1 on the rear panel. The audio lead should go from the PC Line/Spkr out port (often coloured green) to the RGB/DVI Audio IN jack on the rear panel just above the VGA and serial sockets. Make sure you are not trying to connect to HDMI 2 and the TV headphone jack on the side panel. ![]() Make sure that the audio output on the PC is turned up, you would be surprised by how many audio "problems" I've fixed simply by sliding the volume fader up on the screen ![]() If you have an audio system with a 3.5mm jack input for something like an mp3 player then try that just to check there is audio from the PC. |

The most obvious things to check are that the audio cable you're using works, and that you're using the correct video input on the TV (HDMI 1) along with the 3.5mm Audio In socket on the TV. Then make sure that the connection for audio out is in the correct socket on your PC/laptop. It has to be the Audio [b]OUT (or headphone) socket and not in to the Audio In connection.
Make sure there's some volume on the PC menus for the computer's line out connection. Then check through any TV settings that might direct audio to be picked up from either the HDMI or the Audio In. |

To add...
You can download the manual from here if you've lost yours http://www.lg.com/uk/support/support...ct/lg-22LG3000 That shows how to plug up a PC. From reading through it it seems as though it might automatically detect when the audio in jack is being used as it doesn't seem to mention anywhere having to specifically select a "DVI over HDMI" mode just that you select HDMI 1. |

Thanks for the replies, i have a set of pc speakers lying around so tried them and they work fine so that rules out the PC side of things being the problem.
I have also tried using my phone connected to the input on the tv and cannot get anything out of it. Its looking like it might be an issue with the tv itself, might tie in with the screen going blank occasionally (apparently a common issue?) but 99 percent of the time its ok. I'm quite happy to take the back off the tv and poke around if there is a fix for either issue, worked in electronics for a few years now. Regards |

Mind you with everything being condensed into multi legged surface mount ICs swapping a board is often a lot easier than trying to unsolder the dead chip and solder in a new one
