Redwater and DTC
Do you think the decline in quality of DTC's EastEnders work was down to his commitment to Redwater?

I think he's incompetent and giving him some little spinoff was the only way the BBC could get him out of the door of Eastenders quickly before even more damage was done.

Are you saying he was blotto on the old Pino Cherry?
![]() You'd think so with the last few months of his work!

I just don't see the point in this Redwater.
Why not just make the storyline (and Alfie's tumour) part of the main show? |

I think DTC's decline in Eastenders was simply because he had ran out of ideas after the Lucy reveal and the 30th Anniversary Live Week, which was what his whole tenure relied upon. After the reveal there was nothing significant happening and the Lucy plot was dragged out way longer than it needed to be. I think that is proof of DTC's failings. I remember an interview with him, shortly after getting the job in which he had already two planned stories, bring in the Carters and the Lucy Beale whodunnit, however it would seem that there wasn't much after that.
In fairness though, while he ran out of ideas towards the end, his reign wasn't the worst and he was so much better than Newman and Kirkwood. So I am looking forward to Redwater, where we see what he does in a fresh environment. |

It's possible as he was concentrating on both programmes and if it's true I hope Redwater is worth it.
