He has no right to assume that everyone else must have the same experience of sexuality as he has.

I'm straight, but I don't presume that everyone else is.

Whooaa! I really liked Biggins before he went into BB house, but no more. He is coming out with a lot of stuff that is doing him no favours in the LGBT world and which is insulting to many members of that community

It was after he split up from her his infamous ideas on the matter first surfaced I believe. He said it was cruel to women that gay men took wives because it was just 'the done thing' or summat (which it is if they believe them to be straight and love them). Self-loathing?

Absolutely. It's mad imo.

there are people with that opinion in the community yes. I've heard harsh opinions from members of the community who can't accept bisexual women as well. Not just bisexual men gets the abuse. but it is still upsetting to hear it. Biggins asked Rene if she had a problem with gay people and then came out with that bullshit nonsense himself.

Hes just an overweight tub of lard who is up his own ass. How dare he spout such crap, maybe many bi people are happy being the way they are .Biggins comes across to me as creepy and sexually frustrated , maybe he has loved a bi man who doesnt want to be 100 gay.He portrays himself as a gay champion for LGBT rights, and gets himself into some sort of establishment luvvie.

Totally disgusted with him

I'm male but haven't really encountered that problem. I know my Mum strongly believes it, but the girls in my circles don't discriminate between straight men and bisexual men. Maybe I'm just lucky though

What an ignorant man

I'm asexual, wonder if he thinks I should "pick a team" too.

He ought to have lost the tolerant people vote after that others have said his views are known, they weren't to me previously, I was very much of the presumption he would be way more enlightened; as froja alluded to.

Depressing how often it is the case gays having a down on trans people seems to be far from uncommon for example.

Same question to all these instances - 'pick a team' in this case - why should it bother you?

(& presumptions on Hughie's sexuality are not fact as per usual)

Not seen CBB since the launch as been away, will get caught up this week, but as a bisexual man I was horrified to hear his comments from an interview a few months ago, with him being gay himself.

Sadly its not an uncommon view, I get a few comments from gay and straight people just not understanding, and my god its so frustrating! As far as I can remember I have fancied girls and guys, and thats it!

Women do not, never have, and never will hold any sexual attraction for me.

I cannot understand this reactive questioning of heterosexuality.”

My life experience of (only) 40 years and the many people I've got to know very well.

I have absolutely no reason to doubt you are a 100% straight female, just as I hope you have no doubt that I am a straight male with no 'agenda'. My wording may have been clumsy, imprecise and insensitive, and for that I apologise, but overall that is my belief - there is a spectrum of sexuality

I also apologise for potentially derailing the thread about Biggins' comments...

Agree with this - it wouldn't have been uncommon when Biggins was a young man.

I wish Sam Fox had been there when that conversation was occurring. She has had relationships with men and women. I'd like to know what she'd have said.

Marnie is bisexual too, so that's two people he'll have to watch himself around!

Vile, hateful man. I cannot stand him, I never have. It doesn't surprise me he has this opinion. National treasure my ass. It disgusts me that he'll most probably walk this series. Odious thing only cares about himself, he wouldn't stand up for gay rights let alone understand or accept others.

Sadly gay people can be the most judgemental of all. However we aren't all like that, bisexuals can't help being attracted to both genders anymore than I can help being attracted to males or Grant can help being creepily attracted to Marnie

I wonder if he naively associated Bisexuality with his own (and perhaps others he knew) experience of marrying a woman and hiding his sexuality before coming out as gay, and was referring to that rather than meaning how it came across. Either way, it was a very stupid thing for him to say and I'm more shocked that a man of his years and experience would actually voice that statement! I can imagine if he was on the panel on Bots, his reaction to a heterosexual person making a comment of that kind! I'm afraid our 'National treasure' came across as a bigoted fool tonight.

There are also people who think they need to be straightforward and purist, so come out as gay and later, after a confusing few years, realise they are bisexual after all.

Pathetic isn't it?
He's entitled to his opinion and as a gay man of his age he has probably met alot of people such as he was referring to and actually as he walked away he said it was sad....whatever he means there can be interpreted different ways

BIB: agree 100%

just look at institutions like prison (men and women prisons), the military, etc... also it is not unheard of for heterosexual women to fantasize about a lesbian experience but never really want one in real life (same goes with other more controversial fantasies). People may fantasize about something like a lesbian encounter that they would never want in real (non-fantasy) life. They are closer to the middle of the spectrum then someone who never has those fantasies. I'm sure there are studies about this stuff but I'm too lazy to look it up

It's a stupid comment that is for sure! People are what they ARE and how thy feel.

A question i'm genuinely intrigued about though. Any bisexuals on ds who are willing to answer this. Do you have a total 50/50 regarding who you like. ? Does it solely depend on the person you happen to like. I've not been able to ask that many people this question, in life, because I don't know all that many bisexuals. One or two have said, they have a slight preference/leaning one way though. I'm sure though many people, just go with what ever they feel about someone, at the time. As in, it's about the person not what sex they happen to be.
