Nobody said people cannot have opinions, I do accept that everyone has an opinion even if I do not agree with it. And I will comment on that opinion if they air it publicly. But having said that, having an opinion does not mean a person has a right to be offensive. And especially if the shoe had been on the other foot, and somebody said something nasty about gay men, do you think Biggins would be spouting 'freedom of speech"? No, I do not think so. Do you think people can say whatever they like, even if incites hatred? Is it okay to say things about black people or muslims, just because it is a person's opinion? Is it a free license to be a racist, sexist, or homophobic bigot?
I heard two year 6 boys at school talking about gay men and AIDS. I think you can guess what they were saying. So, I should have ignored that instead of dealing with it? Because it is their opinion? Okay, I will do that.
