Maybe they've read the endless threads on here constantly complaining about all the warnings and bemoaning the fact nobody can say anything these days?

The typical Datalounge eldergay/Biggins type despises the LGBTQAP+ label and wants it cut back to LG or just gay.

That's my understanding too - the conversation then turned to bisexuality.

As a gay man i believe that is the case for a lot of people, Bi now, Gay later.

Its an easier way for a lot of gay men to come out.

Thats not to say bisexual doesn't exist.

The point he made was that its the gay men, hiding behind a Bi label that are making it harder for actual gay men to fully accept themselves.

I also agree with him on that point.

People are far too overly sensitive these days”

So, you can conceive of a world where men fancy men and women fancy women, but not a world where women and men fancy both sexes?

Bizarre.

I have quite a few guy friends and I have been hearing pretty much word for word what CB said from them too for many years. I don't agree with their opinion but surely they must be allowed to have an opinion. I think when you are in the public eye it does put a different emphasis on your opinion obviously, so I feel you have to be very fair to both sides of the argument. I personally find it strange that some gay men do not accept that bisexual people are genuine and its not just people who are confused or don't want to take the final plunge, I find that quite arrogant. I like CB however when he made that statement he came across very arrogant and came across like he was stating a fact not an opinion, its not a fact.

bib - I think you mean 'gay' friends Deefs?

I agree, he did come over as very arrogant and as if he was stating a fact rather than an opinion, although many people do that every day.

I do, however, disagree with one thing some FMs are saying - that BB should warn him about it.

I think it's important for people to be allowed to express their opinion on BB (or on here) however disagreeable it may be to others. The reason I think it's important and that conversation of that sort shouldn't be stifled, is because it's important to create discussion and dialogue rather than hide it away.

If homophobia had never been voiced and subsequently challenged, we would still be back in the dark ages - the same with racism or any view that seeks to marginalise or demonise sections of our society who are different to what is considered the 'norm' or mainstream.

If there's no dialogue, there can't be change.

In terms of Big Brother specifically, I agree with their decision not to challenge both Biggins and Marnie on their behaviour and to leave the housemates, as adults and a mini-society for the time they are in there, to deal with their own differences as much as possible. As Saira said to Ricky the other night, they are only going to learn if people stop making excuses for them and they are allowed to dig their own graves.

Biggins has started a conversation about bisexuality through what he said - not what he intended to do I'm sure - but surely that is a good thing, because dialogue is much more important than oppression. Telling somebody off for their opinion isn't going to change that opinion - it still exists and others still hold that opinion - challenging that opinion is the only way to change things, as has been the case throughout history.

Aye.

Biggins and Renee seemed to be implying that some people say they are bi because it's fashionable to do so.

No i said that if you're so bothered by what Biggins has said then how can you not be bothered by what I'm saying (which is identical to what biggins has said)

Nah sorry. Not buying this faux outrage at Biggins for his Bisexual comments. Jeez louise, That his opinion.

It is not faux. Yes he is entitled to his opinion. He is not entitled to delegitimise bisexuality

He's from a different era. He's allowed to have that opinion.

So are many people who make racist comments, that does not legitimise it

We don't need Emo kids who can't take crticisim screaming 'bigots' from their safe space.

Who are you calling Emo kids - those who dont agree with you and him?

As a gay man i believe that is the case for a lot of people, Bi now, Gay later.

As a gay man you should be aware you are in a minority due to your sexual orientation, yet you seem to poop on others sexual orientation as Bi now, Gay later. Yes this may be the case in some instances but again Biggins was saying they should pick a team as if it was a choice

Its an easier way for a lot of gay men to come out.

Yes some men do but most don't

Thats not to say bisexual doesn't exist.

Well that was not what he said. He said "“I think the worst type though, I’m afraid to say, is the bisexuals. What it is, is people not wanting to admit they’re gay... be honest, that’s what you’ve got to be"

The point he made was that its the gay men, hiding behind a Bi label that are making it harder for actual gay men to fully accept themselves.

No the point he made was that he believed people say they are bi to be trendy or to hide that they are gay and as in the quote above he was saying why cant bisexuals just admit that they are gay. He was stating bisexuality was null and void and used as an excuse by people who won't say they are gay

I also agree with him on that point.

Well good for you, I am sure my bisexual friends would appreciate your view

People are far too overly sensitive these days

If you believe people are being overly sensitive about their sexuality not being recognised as something valid and being dismissed by people who believe others have to be either straight or gay and there is nothing else, then maybe you should think back to the days when your own sexuality (and mine) was looked upon as a sickness or perversion by people who were ignorant of the facts. Thankfully most people have moved on and accept that other people may have a sexual orientation which is not the same as their own and do not judge others simply on their own experiences.

I actually find it sad that in this day and age where most people are accepting of others who are different to them, whether that be race, religion, ability or sexuality that we still have people who cant accept other people for what they are

I'm bisexual myself and have had sexual relations with men and women and am attracted to both sexes.

It was an offensive comment to make, but I wouldn't complain about it. Let morons be morons .

I agree with you, which is why I think it's so important to have open dialogue and not suppress those whose views aren't likeable or open-minded, whatever term anybody cares to use.

Suppression doesn't lead to change, open discussion does.

Oh come on Littlegreen, you're gay, just admit it. Be honest that is what you've got to be. You're sexuality is a choice, just pick a team and stick to it and make everyone else happy so that they can put you in a pigeon hole that suits them. Forget about what you think you are, you're wrong

Stop trying to be trendy with your "I'm a bisexual" shenanigans.

No but seriously, your sexuality is as valid as mine and everyone elses and it should not be dismissed in such a way.

I did indeed mean Gay guys Tried to find some fault with your post, just to keep you on your toes but your spot on. I think he was arrogant but not wrong to hold an opinion and not wrong to express it. If he had said it with the intention of causing harm just for sh*ts and giggles it would be offensive but I felt it was his own genuine opinion however you agree or disagree with him and long may free speech prevail.

Simple, it wasn't an opinion it was a statement, "Bisexual people not wanting to admit that they're gay". That's because they are not gay they are bisexual ffs and if someone doesn't understand the difference between bisexual and gay, they ARE a moron.

It is like saying why can't all transgender and transexual people just admit they're transvestites. BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT.

People have to be allowed an opinion whether you agree or disagree - whether is seems totally absurd or even hurtful. It may not be nice and indeed it can cause all sorts of problems. However a world were no opinion is allowed to be voiced is a much scarier prospect and one that is going off in many other countries today.
