This is the rescue website and Winnie is 7th one down in the list

http://largebreeddogrescue.co.uk/our...needing-homes/

Or if you have facebook you can see her album here

She's not the prettiest dog, probably why she's not been rehomed after 18 months in kennels, but she's beautiful to me!
do you think I can get rid of the kids then I would have Rebel

wow, I really wasn't expecting pictures.. and so soon! thanks very much!

She looks a lovely, alert, happy dog (and nonsense about her not being the prettiest dog!)

I don't have facebook but I'm able to see the album (I especially like the pictures where she's on her hind legs looking at something)

Again, best of luck to you both!

I think your children will be pleased to hear Rebel has already been rehomed

Lovely dog and so nice to see a "proper" bulldog instead of the monstrosities so fashionable these days.

Totally agree, even my last bulldog was a victorian bulldog as I can't stand the idea of breeding an animal to suffer like the bulldogs of today.

My friend also breeds french bulldogs and offered me a pup but I declined as I know the vast amount of issues they have. I feel sorry for his stud as he's got such chronic issues with his airways that he literally chokes and throws up everytime he gets excited

A bloke near me has two French Bulldogs and an English bulldog. All you hear when he's walking them is a load of rasping.

The rescue centre have her on dry hypoallergenic food but she still has very watery poos, so I'm not sure that is right for her.
I'll have to experiment and see what she can cope with.
I don't think dried foods are very good for dogs. Low moisture content and usually low protein content too and far too many low quality grains, even in vet recommended brands like Royal Canin and Hill's Science Plan.

This is a good place to start when planning a dog's diet . The 13 best to worst dog foods

I think Winnie is lovely! Shame on you for saing she "not the prettiest"

We have a Golden Retreiver rescue who went into kennels when her original owners (servants!) split up. She is fantastic even if she is a real "Golden Re-diva" who adores my husband but treats me more like the "lady that cooks."

Her name was originally Boo which would have ben cute for a puppy but not for a full grown dog IMHO. We changed her name to Daisy very quickly and easily by calling her Daisy-Boo and phasing out the Boo after a week or so.

Our dogs have a semi-raw diet that seems to work very well for them. They get predominantly raw meat but every few days they have something cooked like offal fried in the griddle pan with no oil or a combination of meat and veggies and brown rice cooked in the slow cooker. Bert (a very large working-type labrador) likes raw chicken wings for a meal whereas Daisy likes a tin of sardines (in olive oil - she's particular ) with some kibble. (However, I worry that Daisy may have had a rather "eclectic" diet in the past as she would kill for a take away - includng rice - no matter how spicy!)

Both dogs are very healthy and their teeth are fantastic. Never any tartar or discolouration - the vet always remarks that they could both be models for dog toothpaste

Winnie is now renamed to Georgie and happily responds to her new name, actually she'll pretty much respond to anything as long as you have a treat in your hand

As for food, she absolutely goes mental over her raw diet and its definitely helping with her sensitive stomach, I just now need to get a bigger freezer!!!

She is the most loving soul and loves a good cuddle on the sofa, she doesn't sit next to you, she sits ON you!

Best thing I have ever done, rehoming a rescue dog, no regrets at all....
