I agree that ‘Box Office’ makes it sound like a PPV service, but that’s only become we’ve become accustomed to the Sky Box Office brand. The ‘Box Office’ name could easily be used for a FTA or basic subscription film channel. And to me I associate ‘Box Office’ with films, not sport. It if was going to be a sports channel I wouldn’t use the words ‘Box Office’ but maybe that’s juts me...

Amazingly Selby pays management and promotional fees to Sanigar, Matchroom and Haymon. After you also take out his Trainers commission he must be left with next to nothing. Quote:

Selby still has one fight left on his matchroom deal. His fights are shown on Sky because as per his promotional contract matchroom retain his uk tv rights and Sky are their exclusive broadcaster.

The DTT channel was later renamed ITV Select. I used to have OnDigital(ITV Digital). I not sure if an other pay per view film channel would work now a days For unless you really want to watch the latest film you can wait 12 months or so and get some of the films on Sky Movies(Sky Cinema) or get them on the likes ofNetflix 12 to 18 months after they come out. I know some that have downgraded there Sky package by cancelling the movies package and moved to Netflix for films but have the Sky Family package just so they can keep using Sky Box Sets and get channels in HD. A pay per view sports service may work depending on what sports it was shown and the price. Darren |

Okay you corrected me - but no need to be an arse about it. His tie up with Haymon practically nullifies Hearn from the picture. Hearn puts the fights on Sky - that's all he really has to do with him.

Ive no idea why you would pay more than 1 person to promote/advise you Don't claim something is 'definite' when it clearly isn't and was proven with a simple Google search! be man enough to admit you was wrong, you don't then get to call someone an 'arse' because your claims of fact were infact false! And no, the Hearn agreement isn't nullified, but as proven before, you don't do well when countered, so thats that! |

Because you began the 'arse' behaviour, i simply continued it as it seemed to me something you respond to!

It seems DigitalSpy continues the trends of many forums by having a clique. If your face doesn't fit and you make 1 out of line comment you are out.
I have already stated you were correct is that not admitting i was wrong? Re your last sentence - do your research and listen/ watch some interviews. It comes from the horses mouth And i take exception to being called a member of some 'clique' I am my own man thank you kindly! I merely told you to take the fact you were proven wrong and move on from it like a mature adult, like a man! Instead of acting like a child saying someone was being an arse which is infantile in the least! I honestly couldn't give a 1000 shits who represents either of the boxers, its meaningless to my life and i have better things to worry about, to focus on and spend my time doing than who represents who and watching some interview and reading some interview! They have contracts with Matchroom, so why are you still arguing this matter? Because you have to be right? Because you cannot be 'seen to lose face'? I have better things to do, good day! |

thanks for correcting. Even though he 'promotes' them you only have to listen to Hearns interviews to know he doesn't really have much to do with him. Strange setup

Similar situation with Degale. Ive no idea why you would pay more than 1 person to promote/advise you Hearn isn't be any means out of the picture but certainly has a reduced role in their careers - for the time being. He has made no secret of his desire to promote shows on the other side of the pond and may well do so under the PBC banner. If so - both Degale and Selby would presumably be front and centre of this. Both Degale and Selby are coming to the end of the Matchroom contracts so it will be interesting to see if they renew and on what terms. To bring it back slightly on topic, even for both of them to appear on PBC branded ITV shows (if they leave Matchroom) they would still presumably (if the model follows the American model) still need promoters - remember Al Haymon is an "advisor" not a promoter. *PBC will be most likely dead soon anyway as it is hemorrhaging money and its backers, Waddell & Reed are getting a bit twitchy. |

Selbys case is more confusing because he is still managed by Sanigar so he effectively has 2 managers/advisors in Sanigar and Haymon. However plenty of fighters have Haymon as well as a promoter, Selby and DeGale are no different to say Wilder who is "advised" by Haymon but still promoted by Lou DiBella.

I don't think boxing on free to air TV is a practical model anymore if I'm honest. There just isn't the money there to pay for the purses.

I think it is more that as soon as a boxer builds a profile and is in with a chance of getting a big fight, they will want the money that FTA broadcasters cant afford. What broadcaster wants to invest all the effort promoting an up and coming star for them to run off for a PPV payday?

We're in a thread discussing just that! That's why we're talking about the possibility of FTA boxing with a PPV channel. The threads called ITV Box Office!

The only interesting thing here is, that the undercard seems to On ITV4 and the main event on PPV so maybe it'll be a fiver; which is obviously still too much. |
