Hi folks, I have my father inlaw's old Foxsat as it has a fault and he replaced it with a freeview version, I remember trying to figure out the fault and it was the EPG that would freeze and we had to re-boot to get it to work again and the same would happen again can't remember any other faults but there might have been, I remember reading on other forums about the capacitors being faulty and wondering if this might be the fault with this box it was the 320GB version if my memory serves me right and the advice at the time was to replace 3 of them and that some suppliers would sell the kit needed, does anyone know if this is the fault? and which ones need replaced, can't do it myself but a son inlaw can.

Thanks in advance

Does the EPG freeze only happen when using the EPG button on the remote when watching live TV? That is normal with this model.

Does the EPG freeze when watching a recording or first going to the Schedule List then hitting the Red Button? That is not normal.

faulty capacitors were a known problem on the foxsat-hd and not the foxsat-HDR which is what you have.
More details on the fault please.

A known issue with the Foxsat after pressing guide was a stuck downloading data message. A freesat tune and not saving the results would fix this. A better approach is use the cached epg by pressing schedule and then the red button.

Watching a recording requires no tuners so you still get the delay as a new epg is downloaded. The box has to be recording user tuner 1 before the cached (instant) epg is displayed. As you correctly said schedule red displays the cached epg even when tuner 1 is free.
