Yes, he definitely is like Lennie.

I agree with this - he's exactly that, their pet.

If in fact he has a learning disability or anything affecting his capacity, surely he's a vulnerable adult and shouldn't be used in this way on TV.

That's what I was thinking watching tonight's show. He's completely out of his depth and doesn't understand. He's not safe in there.

Shades of Shabat <spelling> then, as IIRC he lasted 4 days I think before BB got him out of the house.

He may have been labelled, but he may be just very intellectually challenged so to speak. And a bit defensive with it.

He seems to take tellings off reasonably, and he says 'sorry', and, I don't know, I think he's been TAUGHT socially quite well - he understands what he's done wrong, he just doesn't compute at the time and says what he thinks will impress.

There are more than a few like this. Usually if they have a decent nature they are ribbed a bit but looked after by workmates and friends - if they are a decent bunch.

This lot aren't decent and he will be treated like a stooge and perhaps kick off.

Oh no. The Aspergers diagnosis. Zzzzzzzz. Anyone that acts remotely idiotic or displays weird traits is immediately diagnosed as aspergers. If this easy diagnosis was around in the yorkshire rippers day he would have got away with it.

The interesting thing is, the other day when he started having that conversation with Saira (before it escalated when the others joined in) he was grown-up, lucid, constructing very good sentences, using a good vocabulary and coming over very well for a short while. They were having a grown-up exchange, something he's hardly done on the show.

It would be interesting to see him sitting with the older housemates and interacting with them - I wonder if he would again be like that.

It might be, or he might just have read The Game.

Lighten the f*ck up. We're practicing social awareness here.

I know, and I found that interesting. This is why I think he's been taught well. Perhaps he was repeating what's been said to him. His vocab is decent too. And when Ricky explained to him simply, he listened and got it and then said sorry.

He's thoughtful to some extent, but he seems to just blunder about and 'show off' a lot of the time.

He's peer led and I think would be much better off interacting with the older people.

However he WANTS to be with the young ones.

Sometimes you know, people that act thick, dumb and stupid are actually just thick, dumb and stupid. No doctor needed to give them an excuse for being thick, dumb and stupid.

All these so called Aspergers housemates over the years that have been diagnosed by this forum. Not one of them has ever come out afterwards and said "hey I'm aspergers!!".
Also, surely a good gameplan before going in the house, would be to tell the world you had aspergers and were doing it for all aspergers folk all over the world. You would be a guaranteed winner. Just like the transexuals, deaf people, and other minorites that have used their difference as an aid to them winning Big Brother. But none of them ever have. Which proves the amateur diagnosis on forums is as bogus as Judi James' mumbo jumbo.

I'm sure he'd be a lot better without the terrible triumvirate of Bear, Lewis and Marnie, hovering around like a foul miasma. And so would I. Those 3 are disgusting trashy individuals. Get them out.

ETA--I'm not a diagnostician, so who knows if he's mentally challenged or not. He gives that impression though.

Nobody with Aspergers would go anywhere near the BB house. What folks tend not to realize is that social interaction, noise, sensory overload & sometimes physical contact causes a pain like reaction. Generally, people at the higher functioning end of the spectrum are highly intelligent & deeply reflective (often negatively). Apart from the social awkwardness the Boom Boy displays, I see no other attributes that would suggest placing him anywhere on the spectrum & a diagnosis requires several contributing factors. As you say, too many amateur psychiatrists...

Oh no your enormous post didn't include any speculation about his diagnosis at all.

Hmmm. Reading between the lines & writing notes on things you THINK people have said...could be paranoia. I know a good psychiatrist you could talk to...
