Will Aubrey target James?
chavet
03-08-2016
Considering previous behaviour, Aubrey's been keeping her head down a bit. Watching that talent show, though, it struck me that she may be feeling more confident and thinks she's found a new Lisa in Frankie (and was testing the waters with the "uncomfortable" remark).

Anyone else think she might try and manipulate her progress in the house by subtly fanning the flames of ill-feeling towards James? Will Frankie's current popularity be derailed?

Not sure. Last nights feed showed us Aubrey hugging and cuddling up to James whilst they were talking, unless it's all part of her game.

But that James/Aubrey friendship came from nowhere, something we don't see on the HLs.

I think the older housemates are going to be coming into their own more and more, the more the younger ones act up. If they are causing upset and distress - certainly being offensive to Chloe again from what came over on LF last night - they are going to seek more temperate housemates, comfort even, from the more level-headed, less intimidated, older housemates who are willing to speak their minds and confront/defend more. A bit like turning to your parents, even as an adult, when the going gets rough.

James may be a bit of a rock for somebody seeking a bit of an anchor.

I agree here.

The young group are imploding, whereas the older ones are forming stronger friendships, now with the Americans too.

Sorry. Lisa was a fellow contestant on Celebrity Apprentice with Aubrey. They made a very effective team for bringing people down, and I'm wondering if Aubrey needs an ally before she starts trouble.

Aah right. I've seen a few people mentioning her being trouble - I think The Apprentice and BB are two different kinds of shows, one side of her personality may have suited The Apprentice, it may not be suitable for BB. The prize, after all, for The Apprentice is a very high-executive job, so you need to show a certain kind of character for that.

I imagine that, like most people, she has more sides to her personality than just the one Doesn't mean to say that she can't be like she was on The Apprentice, but I'd never assume that that is all a person is - we all have a variety of personality traits.

I suspect if she does target him, it would be in more of a Judas way, where she won't be seen as the bad guy. It will be interesting to see, though, if the housemates' reaction changes when they hear the eviction crowd.

With only 2 people up, we won't see much change unless there is a "get someone out chant" if it's chanting a name of someone NOT up for eviction.

When there is a bigger eviction, then that will be more telling.

If you get a chance to watch it, it was a good show from a psychology point. Not so good from a humanity point.

James's "chat show" was bloody awful, though. How can a real person actually be more like Alan Partridge than Partridge. If James continues Saira's approach of treating working class housemates (the squad) and everyone else like a resentful, invasive supply teacher in an inner city school, even Biggins may target him eventually.

-Excellent post, and spot on.

From The Apprentice I'd say Aubrey is more of a solo, head on challenge type of person. She'll sound out her alliances with those she respects, which will likely include James, or those who are no threat. She'll manipulate to ensure people are pleasant to her but attack her too personally and she'll more likely go directly on the offensive, route 1. I'd say Bear is the most likely to cross that line with her sooner or later.

Funnily enough, Steve Coogan appeared regularly on James Whale's TV show back in the day Perhaps he based Alan Patridge on James Whale

And IMO IF she does that, i think we best put money on her. She's 42/1, but if she takes on Bear, I can see her popularity soaring.

This is basically (already) an "Anyone-but the Squad" win series. If they are clever enough, the Americans and the "oldies" should know that taking on the young ones could be beneficial. Aubrey and Renee could really be worth a punt.

As a human, I despise her. As a gambler, I've been considering the massive odds of someone so practised in the art of self advancement.

What is this working class nonsense? I keep seeing it. They've even been described as "upper middle class" elsewhere.
James Whale's parents ran a pub and he went to a secondary modern (comp school).
Saira Khan's parents came here as 1960s immigrants to be factory workers in West Midlands.

And even Biggins is not really all that posh. He was born in Oldham and his parents worked their socks off running a garage and bric a brac business, often going without themselves, to send him to private school and buy elocution lessons so he could fulfill his dream of taking to the stage.

So those three are working class. Most of the squad are simply gobby chavs.
