James vs Saira

So the 'talent show' was interesting wasn't it?

What I found intriguing was the section with Whale and Saira. Now here are two people both in work mode, talking how they would normally talk in their jobs. Both had discussed what they were going to do prior to the 'show' and proceeded as planned.

The interesting part was how the others reacted, Whale was the villain and Saira the victim apparently, they heckled and jeered Whale, sticking up for Saira.

"Ask 'er wot 'er favourite position in bed is!" shouted Stephen thinking it would lighten the tone of the interview.

What they all failed to realise is that these two were perfectly happy talking like they were, it's what they do. They were asked to demonstrate what they do for a living and that's what they did.

It's a clash of cultures in there, the young simply don't understand the old and their idea to lighten the mood was seen as 'basic'. That's why there's a problem in the two groups getting on, they don't understand how the other works.

I agree.

I thought the "acting" from marnie, lewis and bear was more embarrassing.

Whale and Saira's chat show piece was as asinine and trashy in its own way and totally redundant. Whale is no Parkinson. Whale sounds like he could narrate a state funeral but he has the iq of a limpet - and, indeed, fronted a TV show in the nineties where "get yer tits out" would have been one of his questions.

That "chat show" bit was bloody awful, boring and was James and Saira's idea of "work mode" i.e. Revel in their own self importance. Bear's responses were eyebrow raising but he hates the two of them so his heckling was not entirely unexpected. One could also argue that if Whale wants to be the next Jeremy Kyle he has to expect similar audience responses.

It was pure Alan Partridge and though I hate to say it, Bear treated the display with the contempt it deserved.

I must admit I was a bit confused by it though (that could just be me!).

It might have just been the editing but Saira looked so confused it did look a bit like James was badgering her. I was actually shouting at the screen 'nooo James please don't make the others look good!'

I actually thought that until I came on here and read the posts about it.

Why didn't they just say no it's ok we've agreed this before hand.

I can't decide if it was a deliberate attempt by Bear and Lewis to make James look bad or BB.

They were just doing their 'middle-class' thing in their middle class way. It's like a whole new language the younger ones don't understand.

I got the impression (on first watch) that Saira was fine with the questioning but was thrown by the heckling.

They're quite happy to call Saira a **n* and other expletives but as soon as you start having an adult conversation about something it's the end of the world!

I agree, they are both self important, it's how they've made a name for themselves. It's not something I like but it is what it is and there's a demographic for it.

I prefer HMs who I consider to be more 'real', Sam, Wingnut (or whatever the EE guy is called, is it Ricky?) etc.

I think James got heckled by Bear and Lewis because James asked them to sit and listen to him after Big Brother had finished talking. Bear didn't want to allow James to be seen as the dominant one in the house. I think it all stems from when they asked Marnie to go over and apologise to Saira for a dare. As for Sam winning, why did she get a 10? I could see Saira twisting her face as if to say that she wasn't in tune. I was expecting Sam to be a bit better than that.

Yeah, he's called Ricky. Ricky Norwood.

Bear treated it as I thought he would. Disrespectfully.
