Not sure what forum you should put this in, because it's not "home" entertainment, but a bit of praise for Maplins here.
I had a RAC dashcam 05, pretty good because it's very crisp quality and 1080p recording (the quality of some lower models can be shocking and not worth bothering with if you want to use it to make geographical videos etc) but it uses a Micro USB port for power and you know how flimsy they can be, pressed up against the window and the like and general wear and tear of unplugging it to take it out the car caused it to be needing to go into a certain way to power and it would lose power unless in a certain way so I had to use this elaborate rubber band construction to keep it on whilst driving.
I lived with that for a while because I didn't realise that actually they would simply take it straight back as it was within the 12 months and just replace it with another new one, they did without any quibbles.
You have to be careful with those sockets, eventually it just broke off! I suppose getting it wired into the car would be good, but you would still have to keep unplugging it because it's a break in risk to leave it in the car all the time or if parked in certain places. Any extension cable I could get, to save wear and tearing the Micro USB port all the time?
Currys/PC world on the other hand are more conditional, they try to sell you a £30 extra policy to have a replacement with accidental damage etc, I wonder why they don't have to take it back with just the standard warranty.
I still had to buy another as I'd be going on a car trip before the replacement from Maplins will arrive,, but I'll keep it as backup or resell.
So if you're not buying from Amazon/Ebay, Maplins are a good choice because they'll replace your item if something goes wrong within the first year, so that's peace of mind, and they won't charge extra for it!
