Glory is her best album in years.

me against the music is one of my favourite britney songs whereas i really did not like till the world ends and hold it against me. i think britney is at her best when she has a really catchy pop hook and the closest i can find on glory is love me down. i even prefer her when she's being cheesy on songs like lucky and i'm not a girl.

Faiiiiir enough. I've tried to like Me Against the Music but I just find it to be tuneless, and all over the place, no rhythm or structure. Madonna's vocals are terrible on it and don't gel in the slightest with Britney's (I usually like Madonna), the only good thing about it for me is the dancing in the music video, but I don't listen to music for the dancing.

I'm not a girl = paint by numbers ballad. Lucky, probably the only cheesy Brit song I like. TTWE and HIAM are epic.

I guess it's just a matter of taste really. If you like cheesey stuff or very basic pop you will like Me Against the Music or INAGNYAM. If you like more clubby/edgy stuff, you'll like Hold It Against Me.

Aside from the ballads like Perfume, Hold on Tight, Brightest Morning Star and Don't Cry Myah sang lead on most of the uptempo songs, it was a huge scandal among Britney fans when, 3 years ago, she released an album where she wasn't even singing most of it. Most people could tell pretty instantly that it was her long-time backing vocalist doing the grunt work, Myah has always had a good Britney impression and they used it to full effect on BJ.

Most of the Onyx Hotel Tour is live but some videos of it I've seen are dubbed with the studio versions of the songs over them. I have a Live in Miami DVD and I only watched it once but I think it has the live soundtrack. The DWAD tour was live too. Someone I know in college went to the Circus Tour and she told me Britney only sung one song live but she enjoyed the show and said it was a good night out.

Fast forward 9 years later I have just watched her vmas performance from last night, and although her miming skills remain questionable, it's remarkable and quite touching to see how far she's come when she could have quite easily slipped into the opposite direction, I hope she's happy she seems to be

On an album note, I'm only 6 tracks in but I really like clumsy, think I might be the only one”

Instead of new albums and performances we could have been looking at tributes and reading obituaries If things really had got bad in 2007 then Blackout, Circus, FF, Britney Jean and Glory would not ever have happened and her children would have been left without a mother Last night's VMAs performance was a far cry from the 2007 one. She was alive and seemed to be enjoying performing again.”

I didn't manage to catch it last night as I was watching other things but I did record it and watched it today while fast forwarding through most of it. I think it has been on before but this time it's been updated and featured new interviews.

Anyway I have to agree with what you have both said. It's amazing at how much Britney's life has changed since 2007 and early 2008 after everything she has been through. If her father didn't step in when he did who knows where she would be right now. So that's why I don't exactly understand much if not all the hate she got especially when she was getting her life back on track and was still possible in a vulnerable place. She didn't exactly ask to be put on a stage back then. I think her father and her management team had wanted to get her in the studio for something to do and didn't even think of or let alone even expect an album to come from her time there or even be released in 2007 maybe for release after when she was in a more positive place.

It must have took her a lot of courage to get back on that stage at the VMAs. I know she has been to the VMAs as a guest, presenter and to pick up awards but to get back on the stage where the performance didn't go well or exactly to plan and was so heavily slated for and to do well as I've said took a lot of courage. Her performance was good and I liked the mash-up of the songs and I know she mimed not perfectly. Her timing on Me, Myself & I was totally off and was very rushed to keep in time with the song. Although she did sound amazing on the track. I don't get why people are moaning about her miming though, she has done it throughout her career with the odd live performance here and there.

I liked the performance she looked like she was having fun and the chemistry/sexual tension between her and G-Eazy. All you have to do is check out the ending to the performance YouTube link below. Looked like he wanted to kiss her after mouthing some of the song to her although it could have been all for the performance and probably was. I wasn't exactly wowed by her wardrobe choice it wasn't what she was wearing but mainly the colour.

https://youtu.be/mGDeAWDNaZo?t=3m30s

As for her new album. I'm loving it and I think it's one of her best. I'm loving all of the songs on it and have been playing it on spotify a lot. I liked Britney Jean but wasn't a massive fan of it and liked a handful but I don't think it needs or should have gotten all the hate it should have. She didn't promote her last album well like she is with this one which may have lead to it's not so great sales or charting position. She was rehearsing for her Vegas Residency and wanting to get that right. Where as now she's got her dates set and knows what she can do when and she may be able to move dates around to promote outside of the US like she is with the ITunes festival.

Everything she had done and achieved is amazing especially with a career spanning nearly two decades not many have a career last that long let alone a year.

That second one is definitely mimed, however no I haven't done much research on this, hence saying 'as far as I know.

This is fantastic news but her new album is no2 in uk midweek a chart, something I'm sure most wouldn't expect, it's defo a top 5 placing, so happy considering her last album didn't make top 30.

I think she also sang most of the Femme Fatale tour live as well with backing track. Also, I think she may have sung her In The Zone ABC Special which ended up on the In The Zone DVD live but it got dubbed over as well and there is a comment or two mentioning that. Plus bit strange that they would have a live band and backing singers miming and not live. Especially in such an intimate setting. Here's her Toxic performance from that special.

No problem. There are more, however, you do have to do some digging to find them. There are more some of the same songs and some of Sometimes and Lucky etc.

She might well have done, but the DVD is dubbed over. I saw some Youtube clips of the ITZ ABC Special (and it's one of my fave Britney shows) and I think they were dubbed over as well. I don't know why they do that. Is it to hide the fact that she was singing live at those shows?

Thanks for that info. I am so proud of Britney. I really thought this was going to be the first Britney album I didn't like, and even started that thread 'the decline of Britney' and after some dodgy moments like Pretty Girls a mediocre (if growing) lead single in Make Me, she's really pulled it out of the bag. She has the strongest long-term back catalog I've ever known for an artist.

I have bought this album but tbh I rarely buy music anymore. I know thats so bad but its easy to get everything for free now. So in light of this I'm thrilled its looking like she is going to get a decent chart position.

I know right! What is the song she covered? I don't know it

I liked her performance, it wasn't the most exciting performance ever and Gwhatshisface was in it far too much imo, but the difference in her is outstanding. She actually looked like she enjoyed it and wanted to be there which is something I didn't think we'd ever see again.

This is one of my favourites https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoPsoO30Ec0

She actually sang live a lot in the early days, nearly all her TV performances and always on tour (although she may have had some back up to help in dancier songs). It got less and less by the third album and then by ITZ it was very rare and most of the Onyx tour was mimed.
