Newcastle United fans - The Rafalution
... at least some of which will be televised .
Welcome, new friends and old, to the all-new Newcastle United Supporters thread. Question to start things off: Which of our recent signings do you think will have the most impact in the side this season? |

I'm looking forward to seeing Ritchie and Diame in action and while I think we still need a bit more firepower up front Gayles pace will be useful.
I'm chuffed with Diames signing. There's a decent replacement for Gini and Sissoko right there, he's a premier league quality player who also has great experience in the championship. He'll be important for us this year. Lots of fans elsewhere have their opinions on Rafa but his mere presence in the club has done immeasurable good to the whole place. His CV undeniable and I think he'll be a good fit for the club. But we start the Rafalution on Friday night and for all the good things that have been happening we do need to hit the ground running and Fulham is not going to be an easy start

It's been a good summer so far regarding transfers as we've already signed 10 players so far: Sels Gayle Ritchie Gamez Ben El-Mhanni Findlay Hayden Hanley Clark Diame Quote:
Rafa was on BBC Newcatle tonight and confirmed we are still looking for 2 or 3 more signings including a striker.

Some fantastic business by Rafa. His impact has been felt throughout Newcastle and there is a real buzz even if were playing a league below our rightful place. Gayle, Ritchie and Diame in particular will all be key players for us this term and I think with another striker, a left winger and another creative outlet through the middle of midfield, we'll be set to repeat history!
I think our only real weakness is at left back. Despite the depth, I don't have much confidence in any of the options but I think I'd rather see Haidara over Dummett. Maybe Clark will surprise me, maybe Dummett will but I still think it's a weakest position. |

From the Newcastle Twitter regarding Gayle/Mitrovic and the number 9 shirt:

Really looking forward to the season starting tomorrow!!
Only Newcastle would have 5 GKs though (We've always been strong in that department tbh) I know 2 are injured and Woodman will most likely be loaned out when one of them returns.

Our keepers are progressing fine. Hope they'll all come back fit and well but as Rafa says I'd rather have 5 kit and ready keepers than just the one

As a neutral im looking forward to seeing how rafa does. I never expected him to stay with them so fair play to him. I definitely think he can get them up in his first full season. The signings so far have been good especially diame, gayle and ritchie.

Toothless first half. Big improvement needed in the next 45 though blatant penalty missed by the ref.

Absolute rubbish from us. No leaders and no creative spark. Hayden, Gayle, Ritchie all anonymous for the most part.
Two penalty decisions that could/should have gone our way. With this squad, we should not be favourites. |

Rafa will walk as soon as he realises what a hard league the championship is.

its certainly going to be interesting to see how a "top" manager does in the champsionship - in a team with by far the biggest financial resources.
