The first thing i took from the game was that everyone was so flat. Perhaps gave Fulham a bit too much respect and didn't go foward anywhere near enough. It was almost like "the seasons started, now what? We looked tidy to begin with and then started to control possession but nothing else. By the time we did concede we looked ready to crumble at any time. It wasn't good.

But hopefully it's the wakeup call that we did. We know how teams will play against us now and Rafa and his team will be making plans to stop them bossing us.

And of course now that we have lost other fans are on our backs but, titles are not won and lost on the back of one game. It'll be okay. It's a wakeup call for us but not the end of the world.

The Rafalution- from 1 point behind 17th in the Prem to bottom of the Championship.

Thats some going.
Two points.

I'm not too worried. Any fan who knows their arse from their elbow knew that the Championship was going to be tough. I actually think this is a good result for us. Rather than setting ourselves up for a fall, we can build from the bottom!

Hi Sam
Good to have you along - no Newcastle United thread would be complete without your thoughtful insights
Haha. The place would be boring without me.

A lot of decent lads in here. Keep it going.

My bad, I thought you were referring to the final league platings. I haven't had enough sleep lately

Oh dear 0-1 to Huddersfield at half time..............

I wonder what their team is valued at compared to Newcastle?

Well 1-1 now, after penalty.

Although I can only hear on the radio, but the penalty was appalling, but Gayle got lucky off a rebound and headed it in. It just questions, his place on the team, if you can't get a goal in a penalty. I heard the commentator that the shot lacked any pace, and what even confused the keeper too, that got the rebound lol.

Another shocking result today. What is going on? From what I can gather, we wasted numerous chances today.

Can't believe they got beat by such a small town side 1-2, and after they equalized with a penalty. You'd think they've been sent a gift with the equalizer. Plus it was home advantage, if they can't win at home against teams like Huddersfield, then who can they actually beat in the division?

Will we see Newcastle still playing in the championship next season too?

The Championship is a dog eat dog league. Rafa isn't used the the hustle & bustle of it. He'll get it right, it'll just take time to adapt to the league.

Yeah I think you're right. He must be wondering what the hell is going on.

Another great result, boring game though apparently. Gayle's goal was the one bit of class in the whole game.
Getting back into this Championship way of playing

Chris Hughton speaks well of the Newcastle fans, and I think the respect was mutual.
The way Ashley and his puppets treated Hughton was disgraceful.

I wasn't chuffed about it either at the time. In fact I was outraged by it and while his successor Pardew had his purple patch in 11/12 you could say the club has since paid the price for it. The club was in a decent position when he was sacked and were just picking up the pieces after shocking time. It might have been okay if we'd chosen a better replacement but....

Anyway, it's in the past.

Tim krul signs new one year deal with Newcastle and goes on loan to Ajax.
Was he out of the running for first team at Newcastle now?

Presumably doesn't want to play for them in the Championship? This way he can either return when they're back in the Premier League or if not move on to another club in a year's time.

There's a lot more to it than that. He actually had his breakthrough year for is in the championship last time and I think he'd be with us still if there wasn't so much competition now in goal.

He's going to Ajax to build up is fitness as he's still on the way back from serious injury which is why we went out and got Matz Sels. It remains to be seen what happens next year but I expect him back and part of the team next year.

Another very good win (2-0) against Brighton.

Also two very good goals from Lascelles and Shelvey as well.

That was the most polished I've seen us so far in the championship and it's a huge win for us against a rival team.

Passed well, we were committed and the goals were perfection.

We're in the top 4 . But let's not get too carried away. We'll enjoy the international break and we made a huge set of games to come,

We've signed Daryl Murphy from Ipswich Town:

Well that's Sissoko gone. I'm sure the lad has talent but I'm equally sure that apart from the early days, we saw precious little of it at SJP.

I'm struggling to think of more than a couple of "should've held on to him" s, and a lot of "just as crap after we sold him" s .
Cabaye (hardly setting Selhurst Park on fire) springs to mind

Good money for Sissoko if it goes through. It's been a very good window for Newcastle. I think Rafa has invested in the right areas but time will tell

Selling Sissoko for £30m is a great bit of business for Newcastle.
