Must have been mid 1990s for six away goals in the league, can't think of one off hand though... Possibly even as far back as promotion season 92/93....
0-6 at Walsall 1962 according to NUFC.COM.

Beat me to it. I was just going to say it equals our biggest ever way win record.

Fantastic night for the club. Here's hoping for more like it!

We've been poor so far in this match and now we're losing 1-0.

2-0 defeat and a red card for Anita.

From the good (over the winning run) to the bad (today).

Also two of our three defeats have been at home when we got promoted in the 2009/2010 season we were unbeaten the whole season at St. James' Park and we've now lost two of our first three games at home in the league this season.

Back down to earth with a bump today.

Some important games coming up against Villa and Norwich. Still early days but home form looks a bit ropey.

Decent home draw in the cup!

Just as we had 2 quick games vs Wolves we now play Preston twice in succession.

Let's just take the league as it comes because while Saturday was disappointing we're still 3rd in the league and in a very strong position.

We night not win the league this year but we still have every chance and expectation of automatic promotion!

2pts dropped against a very poor Villa side. After bossing the majority of the game, we should have put that one to bed. Not convinced by Gayle at all. He had a great chance to put us 2 up and didn't look confident. Just not clinical enough in front of goal with Diame also missing a couple of chances.

Poor again from us in the second half and now dropped to 5th place in the league.

Since the QPR match we have lacked the clinical instinct in front of goal and that needs to improve. I'm not convinced with Sels either maybe we should play Darlow on Wednesday against Norwich in a match we desperately need to win now as we can't afford to be 7 points behind the leaders.

1-1.

Poor from us before half time conceding a goal from giving a penalty away.

We need to improve in the second half and win the game.

Since the 6--0 win against QPR we've been average in the league (lost to Wolves, lucky to get a draw against Aston Villa and now this against Norwich).

Brilliant 4-3 win and two goals in injury time and also a Gayle hat-trick as well.

Our next match on Saturday is Rottherham away.

Last night was mad! Never understood people who leave games early just to "beat the traffic."

The win last night reminded me of the 4-3 win against Leicester City in 1997 both times we were losing 3-1 at home then ended up winning 4-3 in injury time with a player scoring a hat-trick then it was Shearer now it was Gayle.

If you want to relive the madness here it is

What a night though. I didn't see anything like it coming. What I wanted from the night more than anything was a strong performance. I was particularly concerned for Gayle because as our #9 you want him to be scoring goals and he was missing too many chances. You try to keep calm when you're on top and not taking chances but you worry you're going to end up paying for it.

And then when you do go ahead (through our #9 striker, go figure) we then drop off and let Norwich back into the game albeit from the spot.

The next 45 minutes was huge because throughout the second half I saw our fans starting to turn on the players. You could see it all over twitter and of course sense it in the stands. "What does Diame do?" "Why isn't player X playing? Why not stick player Y on?" "We're just not good enough" etc etc

I must admit I was starting to lose faith when it went to 3-1. Not because of anything against the players, I just didn't sense it was going to be our night . However my mood improved when we got the 2nd, because it was 2 more goals in Gayle's locker no matter what the resut which would only do him some good.

Jonjo Shelvey was outstanding. His range of passing at times borders on genius and ir was his 60 yard pass that provided Gayle's second. Gouffran really is a man reborn and an important player for us this year. Darlow again was solid and of course Gayle ended up being the hattrick hero.

I thought when we got the equaliser it was an important goal but getting the winner like we did.... I could barely process it.. What a night for the club.

It was a very good free-kick by Shearer.

I remember the match well. I'd not experienced much like it before. Maybe the 2 Liverpool 4-3 games but at least on this occasion we were on the right end of the result.

Moments like that are special.

I agree and the only other time I remember us winning 4-3 after being 3-1 down (apart from the Leicester and Norwich matches) is the 4-3 win at Elland Road in 2001 against Leeds and it was also an injury time winner (from Solano) as well.

Also in all three matches we were 1-0 up before going 3-1 down to eventually win 4-3.
