Reading post after post bemoaning the lack of talent on CBB or saying that reality stars aren't real celebrities. Bit ironic considering that Big Brother is the father of all UK reality shows.

It's 2016 and the public's appetite for reality television is not about to dry up any time soon. People will continue to become famous because of their personalities - whether those are charismatic or idiotic.

Yes, it is a reality show but, it is the Celeb version, and to many people, these idiots are not celebs.

I just think people are setting themselves up for disappointment by tuning in and expecting not to see reality stars.

If only that were true.

Being able to get mortalled or laid in public, causing petty fights and engaging overtly contrary behaviour doesn't constitute having a personality. Not is it entertaining in any real sense.

There's also perhaps a difference between becoming famous and becoming notorious.

What you noticing when you talk of people increasingly bemoaning a lack of talent is perhaps due to many getting fed up with the same formulaic behaviour from the same reality 'stars' doing the rounds of the same programs.

I don't hate reality stars, but the (British) ones they choose for CBB tend to be awful (either over the top like Marnie or completely boring like Sam Faiers).

I really liked Ferne on I'm a Celeb last year and she was from TOWIE. It just depends.

Ferne has been the best TOWIE person on any reality show

Call me old fashioned but on CELEBRITY big brother I expect celebrities and not non talented people who have never achieved anything in life.

in my opinion, anyone with a lick of sense loathes reality stars.

but it rarely seems to work out that way. people claim they know its fake, and yet REACT like its real.

not that its really any better with someone like Biggins, who's only come into reality TV as a sideline. he's still spent his entire life putting on a performance rather than being his real authentic self. nobody laughs like that and is being "real".

As far as I have gathered, she does a lot of big gigs overseas & earns a lot of money from singing.
She was better at singing than Katie!!

I don't care why they're "celebrities" ... or even if they are. Just as long as they're interesting. It'd be nice to see them have some sort of a skill, though.

I think it's mostly the kind of people who go on reality shows (even the ones where a bit of talent is required) just so they can "get famous" and nothing else. It gives them such a "look at meeeeeee" mentality, they're often hard to take. And they're usually the ones that come from the "fake" reality shows. Where reality isn't really reality.

what grates on me is that it now seems to be 1 x GS, 1xEoTB and 1xTowie per series. And they all do the same, over the top, in your face things to shock/entertain. I wouldn't mind so much if they had less and rotated them a bit (in past CBB's there was a better mix and less reality people). I don't watch these shows but it would be quite nice to see someone from MIC instead - Olly was good when he was on it, but then I got the sense that he was being himself. These other 'scripted' show people are too used to acting up for the cameras and it's all a bit tacky.

Heavy D, Lewis, Marnie and the like should be in the civilian series not the Celebrity one.

I prefer reality tv to (fully) scripted tv shows tbh.

It will dry up soon because we are swiftly hitting saturation point, there is only so much work there for Zelebrity and reality dullards, they can't all carve out careers in the public eye. In a years time what will Bear be doing for instance?

If you are going to have reality stars from other shows on you may as well include ex BB HM's. They must find it hard to fill 2 celebrity versions a year so to get a better pool of celebs they should go back to just having one in January with a long normal BB.

3 x BB's a year is BB overload, less is more so go back to 2 shows per year a celeb and a longer normal BB.

Come on now a days scripted reality and what BB was originally are like polar opposites.

Bbs mistake is changing its long running format to compete with weaker, shot lived reality programmes of today. People haven't got the attention spans to watch these young folk acting her after year, their roles and storylines etc are just so predictable. BB use to be about diversity and unpredictability, sadly its become the furthest thing from reality and morphed into the trashy scripted/acted shows of today.

Completely removed from its original concept, its now manipulated within an inch of its life, we have highly edited and selected footage and castings solely based on these celeb wannabe actors from other now failing shows.
