Met a neighbour last week with their "andrex" dog and he said they were such a loyal friendly breed that's why he picked her and I must admit despite her never having met me before she let me stroke, cuddle and embrace her without any negative reaction at all.

Seemed to be a super laid back unruffled breed of dog... But what other breed of dogs in people's experiences are at this end of the spectrum, this type?

how longs a piece of string?

Most dogs bred well and socialised well are friendly.

I've met some real nasty labs in my time

Of course but some breeds are thought by nature and disposition to be exceptional in this regard IE their dominant trait

For me most loyal would probably be rotties in my experience and most friendly would be staffies but there is a vast array of breeds out there and individual dogs and how they are bred and raised is crucial

The ones I have met don't seem especially friendly, couldn't really say about loyalty as never owned one or done much work with them, they always seem to keep themselves to themselves if you know what I mean

Hi,

A Pit Bull will allow you to do/be all of those things, has all those traits in most cases a good dog, what you get out of it is down to its owner.

The Andrex Puppy, which is a Labrador Retriever is particular known for all of the above as are the Black ones.

There are many breeds that have, can be what you are looking for not forgetting the humble mongrel.

I get what you mean I think. Can I ask what breed of dog you have if any?

I just couldn't believe how I was all over the labradour retriever and the owner was totally confident their dog wouldn't react negatively or aggressively. Unruffled or placid seem the best words.

I've never thought of pit bull's as friendly but I could see that they'd be loyal to devoted owners.

Pit bulls and Staffies are extremely friendly and love to meet people and people please more than any lab I have met
Generally all with the flirty touch me, look have you seen my belly.

At the moment I seem to have a staff x boxer, was only supposed to be working with him but he doesnt appear to be going anywhere, not mine tho the parents couldn't help themselves he's coming on nicely but still needs work.

My last dog I owned was a ddb, I am a lover of the large breeds and have more experience of them than other dogs. Tho years ago the first rescue i volunteered at was filled with collies and greyhound types and the odd terrier.

He doesn't like other dogs he will nearly go through the window if any dogs go past the window lol...But he will play with kids all day long. Hes brilliant with my grand daughter she had some health problems and if shes not well during the night he will let my daughter know by waking her up.He sleeps in my daughters at night with her and the 2 girls. Hes a good little dog for a JR.

I've met some big dogs in my time, normally not scared at all the other day a mutant weimaraner (must have had some great dane or something in it), circled me then started trying to bite my coat for treats, I was a tad worried along with pissed at the owner for not being able to recall their dog.

This also happened the other day with a black lab, I was annoyed but threw some treats on the ground and walked off to the other side of the field to work in my recall as it's body signs were not aggressive like the weimaraner

Nicest dogs I've met tend to be Staffies. Always smiling happy dogs. I've also met some nice Whippets too and Greyhounds tend to be nice.

Least pleasant breeds I've met have been little terrier types. Next to them has been Lab crosses. Also Collies from what I've met tend to be uncomfortable around people.

Don't mention them to me. There's something weird about them. They've got dead, shark-eyes. My friend's one bit me - for no reason at all - I was just walking past it and it caught me in its peripheral vision, turned and bit. It didn't hold on - just bit and let go. Still had to go to hospital and have the wound cleaned. Despite this - I didn't want the dog to be put down - but my friend decided it was the best thing - it had bitten two people before. My friend is a very responsible dog-owner by the way - she'd spent thousands of pounds on this dog with a 'dog-whisperer' - plus she had a German Shepherd when we were kids - and that dog could not have been better looked after with regular exercise, good food, regular vet treatments as necessary. etc.

I remember 50 odd years ago being in Woolworths in Manchester with my mam and sister. They still had those over head whizzy things they put money in shows how long ago it was lol.

Anyway I remember seeing this huge great white dog being walked through the shop. It was a Pyrenee mountain dog. I was only little at the time but that memory has stayed with me

I have a memory like that to, another breed.

I was about 15 at the time, I was with one of my brothers, in a clients property and I was told to sort out a dripping stop cock under the kitchen sink. I hadn't been at it long and I came out from under, turned around and there staring at me was this huge,--gun metal grey in colour,---huge--huge

I am so, so, to write this,--I yelled Mum!---but I had never seen one before, frighten the bejazus out of me,----I yelled Mum!

Most loyal dog I ever met was a German Shepard, the chap owned her said they are very much a one person dog and look to that one person for everything, his wouldn't even take a treat from anyone else in the family.

But generally I think any breed can be loyal it depends on the individual personality and how the dog is treated.

I love to bits our labrador but she is totally loyal to my husband hates him even going to work, I can't walk her she won't leave his side. She is a tart for food but it's her dad she wants to sit and walk with.
