Vid from Smart Phones
They keep telling us how good the quality of photos are now on smart phones and how good the videos are.
The pixel quality keeps getting better etc But why is it that every video I see on line .... made on a phone.... the vid only fill the middle part of the screen ? Its like your'e viewing the world through a narrow gap in the fence ! Will things ever improve ...? will we ever get full screen videos 1200 by 800 ? |

the vid only fill the middle part of the screen ? Its like your'e viewing the world through a narrow gap in the fence ! Unfortunately, people are just used to holding their phones in portrait, and continue to do so when they shoot video. It's also exacerbated by apps like Meerkat, Periscope and Snapchat, which are designed to be used in portrait mode. Quote:

We're already well beyond that.Even relatively inexpensive/mid range phones from a couple of generations ago are capable of shooting at high frame rates in 720/1080p and up to 4K and in HDR... |

Thanks ... that explains a lot
come to think of it whenever you see a crowd holding their phones up to film they are always holding the phone in portrait mode ! looks like the apps are making things worse too! |
