Did anyone pass on this CBB?

Having given up on BB17 following the announcement it was to end after five minutes, I also made the decision to ditch CBB. I even avoided the launch, something I have never done as an avid fan in the history of the show.

Judging by the mood on this forum, and feedback on social media, I'm certain that I made the right decision. The imbeciles behind this desperate programme appear to have reached an all-time low, and a pretty disturbing one at that. I'm no prude, but I'm actually quite horrified by some of the threads that are appearing on this forum, and also by some of the events that are taking place in the house. I'm further alarmed by the fact that all unquestionably reprehensible incidents are being advocated, rather than addressed and actioned upon by the producers.

I am following this series purely via the forum and social media. That is my choice. I have absolutely no desire nor inclination to watch, but I will continue to follow it through sheer inquisitveness to see what deplorable act BB will allow to go unnoticed and unpunished next.

Without having seen a single second of footage (I don't think I need or want to) it sounds like a very ugly, vindictive, juvenile series and a complete turn off. For those people that are enjoying it, does this particular edition have ANY redeeming qualities at all?

I will be astounded if they manage to sign any of the 'bigger' names in future after filling the house with total nonentities and condoning such repulsive behaviour. What 'celebrity' in their right mind would wish to be associated with such a nasty, twisted show? They would have to be desperate for the money and the exposure!

First big brother I have watched on CH5, last one I watched was on CH4.

Will only watch the celebrity versions from now on.

actually it's pretty good.

I'm not quite sure why it's necessary to make a long announcement that you're not watching something.

I'm in a similar boat, I'm a fan of the show but neither of this year's two series have been enjoyable for me.

I hope its not an inclination of what I'm in store for in regards to the future of the show/brand for me. It'll be extremely sad if that's to be the case, as I do enjoy the shows concept and many series right from bb1.

I like to stick the shows out even if I'm not feeling it in a hope it'll improve but sadly the summer series fell flat, I hope cbb takes a positive turn for the better. I think implementing some fun tasks would pick it up a bit, as well as some of the quieter hms.

I find two thing's predominantly wrong over all, one being BB seem to be courting a younger audience and wish to appeal to the scripted reality fans but bbs unique and doesn't need to change so dramatically to be successful, such cheap shows are temporary/fleeting. Also due to a desire to be as big as its former glory days, BBs priorities at present seems to be a dangerous preoccupation with the media coverage of theshow and its contestants. The desperate for fame zeleb type castings are far to dominant in recent series, so much so it's lost its unpredictability and diversity resulting in little expectation and excitement from the launch through to a very quick burn out early on. The show becomes quite stale within a few weeks and the hms seem more and more unrelatable and dare I say unlikable. Who will want to spend their money or their time supporting an entirely negative series and casting year after year. BB need to give it some life again, and quit with its fixation on sheer controversy and trash tv.

It's a long time fans opinion on the brand that is BB and clearly their recent feeling, albeit negative ones, regarding its present direction......I'd say the poster is in the PERFECT place to discuss these recent frustrations with BB.

Even if it's long, sometimes you need to explain your reasons for having such an opinion.

It pains me to say it, but you can sense civilian BB coming to an end.

You can tell simply from them drawing the time in on civilian BB and slightly extending cbb each year.

An opinion, not an announcement, there's a difference if you're able to distinguish between the two. Just because I've made the decision not to watch this particular series doesn't mean I'm not entitled to one! It's a forum!

In all fairness, as a voluntary non-viewer of this CBB, I did clearly state that I am fully aware that some viewers out there may be enjoying it, and they are fully entitled to do so.

Having been a BB viewer since the very first episode, yes, I do have some issues with how the show has evolved, as I'm sure many other's do too. I'm pleased that you are enjoying 2016 BB, how about telling me why, as a non-viewer, instead of stating the obvious and questioning why I've dared to have an opinion on Big Brother, on a Big Brother forum, discussing Big Brother related topics! Go on, tell me what I'm missing. I genuinely want to hear YOUR opinion and WHY you're enjoying the show as your previous response revealed nothing. Remember, I'm only going on the unsavoury (but usually accurate) views of this forum by established members and regular social media updates

You are absolutely spot on So much so, I just had to let go or risk demolishing my TV with a blunt heavy object! My love for the show only fuels my anger and frustration! Chopping civilian BB (the real show) to pieces was the final straw for me. 24/7 outside information and boyfriend stopovers also didn't sit right with me either! As each spoiler emerged, the inevitable decision edged ever closer.

However, I have now accepted that the show has evolved and what it has become - TOWIE #2 basically. It isn't Big Brother. It isn't my cup-of-tea, so I've voted with my remote. I doubt it will ever again resemble the programme I and many others once enjoyed. It has evolved to the point where it has simply morphed into the aforementioned structured reality show and others like it that I just can't abide, or the people that 'star' in them. I totally agree with your prediction that civilian BB isn't long for this world, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it rocks up in the schedules again next year. I personally think it's high time that the UK arm of Big Brother was put to bed, it's had an amazing run but enough is enough.

I thought the opening post was very balanced and well thought out.

soapnut is an established poster on the BB forum - so has every right to post what he has.

I get the sense he's looking for confirmation from others that he did the right thing by deciding not to watch, while worried that he might be missing a good series, so wants to hear us all say 'yes it's crap you made the right decision'

anybody who says it's a good series is then eviscerated for not being an 'old school' fan of the show

you're not really entitled to an informed opinion on a series you haven't been watching but only have second hand info of through social media - it's not quite the same thing!

listen mate, I've been watching BB since Nasty Nick and co walked through the door on the very first day back in 2000 - those of you who are hoping it will return to those 'glory days' are sadly naive. It's never going back to there, just accept it. Yes It's a shadow of the show it once was but there's no point perpetually moaning about it, which is all I hear on this forum. Just take it for what it is, or not.

if you wanted me to say 'this series really sucks and you definitely made the right decision not to view it' , well I'm not going to. The episodes are all available on catch up so it's not too late to start

'you're not really entitled to an informed opinion on a series you haven't been watching'
BIB Why on earth not? Does it cost extra to get comments if you don't watch!?
I get that OP just wants YOUR's and others opinion on why it's good OR bad...you know, conversation, on a conversation board. Of course it's your prerogative not to give one, just don't know why you are making such a big deal about saying 'I think it's good because...'
I have watched it since day one also as that seems to be a big deal regarding OP's simple request and agree with the whole let it go, it ain't coming back stance but, whatever.

I've skipped it and am very interested myself in how people are enjoying the series, or not, so thanks OP

After the last BB I must admit I did glance at launch night out of morbid curiosity at the horrors they put in, but it's been easy to stop watching totally, I'm quite surprised really.

Quite a defensive response but never mind.

As the thread title suggests, I clearly wondered how many forum regulars, if any, have also vetoed this series like I have. If anything, I, or anyone not watching couldn't be more informed about this series of CBB, thanks to this very forum, the C5 website with their full daily synopsises of day whatever.. Facebook, Twitter, numerous fan sites and daily gutter press. The negativity is everywhere. It's no secret that it's not the most favourable series, or that the majority of 'celebs' it features are people that nobody has ever even heard of - unless they watch those dreadful structured reality shows, featuring equally hideous people.

So no, I haven't watched any episodes, nor do I intend to either still. I know all I need to know to make an informed decision - social media is literally ramming it down everyone's throats, I have chosen not to watch and for very good reasons. I'm certainly not expecting a barrage of comments from fellow contributors telling me how fabulous the series is - it's blatantly obvious that isn't going to happen. I'm not worried I'm missing a "good series" either - I know I'm not! I'm also not expecting the format to suddenly time-warp back to the year 2000, despite your belief! This show is trashed indefinitely now and it's shelf-life is limited once more, the team behind it have seen to that. I totally respect the fact that after many years you are continuing to enjoy the show, but, I, for one am not unfortunately, reasons for which I think are totally valid and justified. I am entitled to my opinion and you are to yours of course, both of which I find very interesting from the points of view of day one viewers! I'm also very difficult to please and a harsh critic, not helpful I'm sure!

So tell me ... what is it you're loving about the show?

I'm not on social media so my only idea of how it's going (and as a long-term viewer I like to know something about it) is on here. So far all I've picked up on is:

- James Whale involved in some instant coffee over the head 'drama'
- some sort of 'bullying' going on
- Biggins calling bisexuals liars
- the usual classless GS HM doing something classless
- sleazy Bovey being sleazy 'shocker'
- BOTS in 'is utter shite' disgrace

Is there anything really to have missed?

I don't think this series is as bad as people are making out. So people expect it to be dominated by the same people? BB loves a twist and it's only the first week. IMO it's going to get very good.

As for BB17...I loved it.

I enjoyed civilian bb this year.Havent watched for years.I have started watching CBB simply because there was no break between the two and I was in the habit.Im not fussed if I miss a bit .I do feel quite strongly about certain people in the house who have been allowed to avoid eviction.
I'm beginning to feel that the ones who do have a bit about them are not allowed enough air time to shine through.
I certainly aren't voting.I probably would have if the third highest nominations Bear was up because it's clear that gang needs to be split up.
I would feel the same if Big D was put up by the house.
Horrible viewing at times .
Sam is popular but wasn't allowed her time to shine without the two guys getting on stage with her.She was clearly uncomfortable with one behind her and one in front. She was experienced enough to wander away.
I haven't voted with my remote. But will not be voting with my phone.
And can understand entirely why someone would switch off.

Nothing at all whatsoever to entice you to hit that catch up button is there?

Boobgate
Spitgate
Anger-managementgate
BiasBBgate..

The Olympics will more than likely crucify it once they get going, so they'll have to put their controversy thinking hats on to hang onto the viewers that are still able to stomach it.

The latest spoiler from a reliable source that I've read details how 'Bear' has punched a mirror as he can't control his temper. It's no wonder really if BB allowed that yank skank to gob in his lunch and not tell him. Infact, BB appears to have switched the cameras off this series, either that or he is blatantly ignoring anything untoward that goes on. I only had to read a handful of comments on this forum explaining that it was uncomfortable viewing to not make a beeline for catch-up. Another 4 weeks? It'll probably get cut short if viewers have tired of the TOWIE show by then or not died of boredom beforehand. Dread to think what the next spoiler will entail and who has been hurt. BB sitting back doing nothing either when past housemates, civilian or otherwise, have been ejected for comparatively minor incidents.

The fact that it's all completely one-sided with one rule for one and one rule for another, to keep certain people, puts me right off even entertaining the idea of watching it. What's the point? The viewers, and the housemates are just being taken for fools and the whole saga is a fix! I can't believe how many people are still sucked in and will more than likely, willingly part with their cash to vote for these nobodies! I'm yet to see a positive article anywhere on this latest outing for CBB.

Its a case of Channel 5 producing a show with certain viewers in mind....and cleary from this forum a large majority of us on here are not it (but judging from twitter it is doing the job intended).

Although i have come to accept certain things and BB17 was not as bad as i thought it would be but if you know you are not going to like something its time to find a alterntive.

I loved this year's civilian series, thought it was the best c5 series yet! CBB I'm struggling with, I haven't watched it these past 2 nights and I haven't missed it either while I was entirely committed to the civilian show that I even watched it at 3am after coming home from a night out! Not near sober, make up sprawled down my face and smashing slices of under cooked garlic bread in my mouth... All whilst watching a great episode of the civilian show!
