'Game of Cobblestones': Corrie reveals Mrs Fanshaw's shock Christmas crossbow rampage

The Coronation Street cast have revealed the culmination of the show's Christmas plot involving the iconic Mrs Fanshaw is 'jaw dropping' and 'a real blockbuster'.

As fans of the ITV soap already know, Mrs Fanshaw's festive storyline will be one of the 'most shocking' in the history of the ITV soap but newly released pictures exclusively reveal the extent of the explosive scenes.

"We know it's only August but there is such an appetite for this festive storyline that we just had to release these explosive spoiler pictures today" gushed outgoing Coronation Street Producer, Stuart Blackburn.

"With the massive popularity of shows like Game of Thrones, it only felt right to inject some of that aesthetic and excitement into Coronation Street."

"It was a perfect fit and a complete no-brainer" he added.

The shock episodes see Mrs Fanshaw, played by smouldering Alison King, head out on a rampage across Weatherfield's cobbles to exact revenge against the street's menfolk after a number of them get on the wrong side of her.

ITV are remaining tight-lipped about the exact identities of the characters who meet their maker, but Phelan, Steve McDonald, Roy Cropper and the world's longest serving soap actor, Ken Barlow are all in the frame.

"They are the most amazing scenes" said fellow cast member Helen Worth, who has played Gail in the show since 1974.

"This is a real first for Coronation Street and all of us are on board with it. It's breaking new ground and really bringing the show into the 21st Century - no one is safe."

Alison King revealed that she cried during the filming of the shocking scenes.

Mrs Fanshaw's explosive scenes air on Christmas Day at 8.30pm.

No way can they jail her for her crimes - it was self defense surely?

Maybe it's more of a publicity move to get everyone on the #FreeTheFanshawOne bandwagon while planning to set her free from her miscarriage of justice after a few weeks

That would be an awesome twist, really original too. It would be a massive story for Corrie.

Have you heard the rumour that Mrs Fanshaw might

Spoiler
rename the Rovers?

I'm a big Fanshaw fan but that's a bold move even for her, it is part of Corrie's heritage after all. It will have to be something good to replace it.

Well I for one always preferred Mrs Fanshaw to Carla Conna
It would be a great way to bring Ali King back to the cobbles to reprise such an iconic, but short-lived character.

Keep the pics coming.

This thread is pure genius Foxy & kk!

Is it true that Mrs. Fanshaw is returning with Peter Barlow or is it just hearsay?

Kym Marsh declined to comment.

In case for some reason you've forgotten her, here's a reminder;

I believe having an actor play a character, then another character and then return to their original character would be a soap first and I believe there are buckets of potential for the clean slate of Mrs Fanshaw rather than Carla who had run her course by the time of her exit.”

Only if Charlie and Jason were there again.

Coronation Street: Carnage on the cobbles as kamikaze helicopter brings devastation and death to Weatherfield

There are the dramatic scenes of devastation and destruction on Coronation Street after a helicopter manned by a kamikaze pilot CRASHES into the street.

And ITV can exclusively reveal that SIXTEEN major characters will be killed off in the disaster next month.

Stunt doubles, pyrotechnics specialists, special effects experts and computer generated imagery are all being used to ensure the event is the most spectacular in the show's history.

And although producers have been trying to keep as tight-lipped as possible about who dies and who is piloting the deadly helicopter, it has been confirmed that SIXTEEN major characters are left fighting for their lives after disaster strikes the street.

Coronation Street producer Kate Oates said early last month: 'All last week we filmed the exciting and explosive moments that lead to the helicopter crashing from the sky.

In the dramatic scenes, the helicopter is seen plummeting onto the cobbles while being manned by a much-loved character intent on bringing death and destruction to Weatherfield.

Oates revealed she had to ask ITV bigwigs for more money to shoot the scenes.
She said: 'We've had a significant amount of extra money from ITV for this stunt. It's the most money we've ever spent in the show's history; it's going to be a spectacular set of episodes.'

She also said that the stunt would dwarf the 2010 tram crash that celebrated 50 Years of Coronation Street.

Oates elaborated: 'To give you some idea, we felt this was exactly the kind of character-driven story that Corrie should be telling. One of the show's most popular and iconic characters is piloting the helicopter and is bent on revenge against neighbours who have taken advantage over the years. It's huge.'

She said the episodes would be like 'nothing we've ever seen on Coronation Street', and added: 'I can't tell you how excited I am.'

How can Mrs Fanshaw possibly come back from this one?? She's only just been reintegrated into the community after that whole crossbow incident. I suppose if this is her exit its best to go out in dramatic memorable fashion and be remembered as a great rather than become stale.

Corrie: First Look At Helicopter Carnage Aftermath

At a press event today more details were released by Corrie boss Kate Oates over the upcoming Carnage Week which will see soap favorite Mrs Fanshaw at the center of a huge Kamikaze Helicopter disaster that will envelope the street and kill off SIXTEEN characters on the show. "The scenes are explosive, more like a blockbuster movie than a soap" said Oates "We will be saying goodbye to some legends of the show in some shocking and heartbreaking scenes".

As fans on social media have been speculating so much on the fate of Mrs Fanshaw that she is now top of the trending list on Twitter, Oates confirmed rumors that she will be seen to eject from the helicopter as it explodes onto the street and will be hospitalized with non fatal injuries in the aftermath. "Mrs Fanshaw is discovered out on the street in the midst of the chaos" she teased "For a while it is touch and go for her but she will pull through and there is plenty more drama for her character ahead".

A spoiler picture shows Mrs Fanshaw lying on the street

Kym Marsh declined to comment on whether her character Michelle was safe.
