Americans don't know what a jam sandwich is

When I started uni (5 years ago now, wow), there were a couple of people who had just moved to the UK the month prior and got their place in the uni. They were from Michigan and only had been in the UK for just under a month fully.

I said on the first night, "so we all going to get smashed tonight" and they looked concerned and thought i was insinuating that the plan was to get into a fight. They learnt the lingo pretty quick.

Well she might have already knew/figured it out, or could have learnt what it was since entering the house.
