Well ideally they would, but due to pressure from the commercial sector, especially the likes of Murdoch, the B.B.C finds itself under increasing scrutiny from the government, who are happy to basically try and force it into changes that only make sense if you're trying to destroy the B.B.C..

That being said, I am a radio 1 listener, although, probably outside of their target demographics, I usually listen to Scott Mills and Matt Edmondson, but I'm also a fan of Alice Levine and Phil Taggart too.
