Just watched last night's show on you tube. Gleb and Jana's contemporary dance was stunning. I wonder if they had more time to practise this week as she has postponed some of her tour shows to concentrate on DWTS. It really paid off.

Make sure you check out the opening pro dance choreographed by Mandy Moore with help from Jenna and Artem. It's a beauty.

This really was stunning!!

I'd much prefer some more dances like this than always having raunchy stripper dances

I thought it was Julianne dancing with Derek at the beginning - it really looked like her from the back, but at the end I finally worked our it was Lindsay with her hair up

Oh, and I also love Maks and Sharna dancing together

I found the last episode very tough to watch. It's so unnecessary to force such exploitative and personal bs upon the viewers. It's none of our business and frankly I don't need to know about the worst moment in their lives. I hadn't heard of any of them a few weeks ago!
And then to have to hear the judges hark on about how moving it all was. It wasn't. Ryan still can't dance you guys.

Beyond that, I thought both the car driver and Gymnast were very over marked/praised. Gleb and his partner were the strongest.

Glad Laurie called Val out on his rough teaching. He didn't seem to learn from it though. DWTS, please get rid of him!

So are you suggesting they were lying? They were moved by it. I was moved by it. You were not. Your loss. They've run the most memorable year round more than 20 times now so I think we can reasonably assume that you are in the minority when it comes to finding it unedifying and it seems an odd time to start criticising it now.

A quick and dirty post about both of the last weeks:

- I thought Laurie's Jazz was overmarked, because it just felt a bit... sparse, in terms of content. 9s maximum, and an 8 from me.

- I desperately want James to do his Quickstep again in the Final (if they repeat a dance, who knows with DWTS), as it was one of my favourite routines ever, even with the error.

- Jana seems to be undermarked by 2 or 3 marks each week for me, which considering she might be up against popular contestants with big fan bases seems unfair; I have her down as the 3rd best dancer this series, behind Laurie and James.

- Laurie's Paso was my least favourite dance of the night; an odd, unnecessary beginning, frantic choreo, a mistake, and just a bit messy all round. If they do Redemption Dances in the Final, there's hers.

- Amber still just befuddles me wholly, but she's not unlikable.

- Calvin's good, but James is definitely the strongest male dancer.

- I really hope that (very difficult considering the music) Viennese Waltz was Marilu's breakthrough; it was overmarked a bit, but was still a huge improvement, and could be a tipping point.

I accept i'm in the minority here. I'm still free to express my opinion, a forum would be a dull read if it exclusively parroted the views of the average joe's.

I have always disliked the theme. I post sporadically, when the mood takes me; perhaps I found this seasons effort particularly offensive.

Oh, hello Jana, you decided to arrive in the competition, with an almighty bang.

Loved Jana and Gleb's Argentine Tango. The water thing at the end was similar to the one he danced with Adelina in the Russian DWTS. They ended up in water also. Haven't been impressed with Amber Rose so feel it was her time to go.

Anyone else catch Caroline Flack in the audience? I didn't like any of the music this week but the argentine tangos were both good (although I found the shower OTT).

No random DWTS audience member spot will beat the time Denise Welch turned up and sat front row.

Caroline Flack was on All Access. Interview is on twitter at DWTS All Access Emma interviewed her and told her the difference between pants, panties and trousers. She was asked for her observations on the differences between the two shows plus talking about her own experience on SCD. I believe Kristina was there too with Gleb's wife, but can't confirm.

Next week is the team dance.

These are the teams.

Team Future: (Not sure of song yet. It is an electronic instrumental.

Laurie & Val (Captains)
Marilu & Derek
Jana & Gleb
Terra & Sasha

Team Past: (song: “The Skye Boat Song” by Raya Yarbrough – theme from Outlander)

James & Sharna (Captains)
Calvin & Lindsay
Ryan & Cheryl
Maureen & Artem

Next week is decade week. Each couple dances to a song and dance type of a decade. Yes more themes. But the Uncle Lenny is back.

The individual dances and songs.

Ryan and Cheryl – 1990’s Rumba (song: “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith)

Terra and Sasha – 1930’s Foxtrot (song: “Cheek to Cheek” by Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong)

James and Sharna – 1940’s Jitterbug (song: “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller And His Orchestra)

Marilu and Derek – 1920’s Charleston (song: “Never Forget You” by Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox feat. Addie Hamilton)

Jana and Gleb – 1970s Samba (song: “Get Down Tonight” by KC and the Sunshine Band)

Maureen and Artem – 1980s Tango (song: “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi)

Calvin and Lindsay – 1950’s Jive (song: “Good Golly Miss Molly” by Little Richard)

Laurie and Val – 1960’s Quickstep (song: “One Fine Day” by The Chiffons)

Seems to be the consensus.

Team captains pick who they want for their team so Laurie picked what appears to be the winning team.

I'm in and out of this series but I'd love to see Jana, James and Terra make the final!

I loved Team Past's dance. Really clever choreography: dancing to a traditional Scottish song so making it look like a Scottish Ceilidh

Dances for week 8. All Halloween themed (of course).

Laurie and Val – – Viennese Waltz – “Pure Imagination” by Jane Monheit

Ryan and Cheryl – Argentine tango – “Howlin’ For You” by The Black Keys

Marilu and Derek – Argentine tango – “Sweet Dreams” by Emily Browning

Calvin and Lindsay – Quickstep – “Dr. Bones” by the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies

Terra and Sasha – Cha Cha – “Day – O” by Harry Belafonte

Jana and Gleb – Jazz – “Little Shop of Horrors” by Alan Menken

James and Sharna – Viennese Waltz – “You Don’t Own Me” by Grace ft. G-Easy from Suicide Squad (James is rehearsing with Jenna because Sharna fell in the group dance rehearsal and suffered a knee sprain - not able to dance. Not sure if he is dancing with Sharna or Jenna on Monday).

Face-Off Challenge:

The highest scoring couple will have immunity. The remaining couples will have a face off challenge consisting of jive, salsa or cha cha. The winner of each face-off gets an additional 3 points.

Out of all the possible female pros available, she picks Jenna?

Oh there is so much irritation out there of this fact. Most people want Emma and I agree Emma would be much better for him. Especially a VW.

I actually wanted him with Emma when I found he was doing the show because I knew he had this outgoing personality and if the dude could dance Emma would have a great season. But I do like the partnership with Sharna and he has great chemistry with her.

But Emma is clearly supporting Terra and Sasha so this might be a conflict of interest for her.

I would have LOVED Emma to get James, she's certainly due a real good partner!
But, I am happy for Sharna getting James, as he and Charlie are the only partners she's had that are just in it to enjoy and embrace the experience. Everyone else that Sharna has partnered has either had a bad attitude, a difficult background or physical limitations.
Can't stand Jenna, and while I know it was likely Karina's choice to not do this season, I'm annoyed that's what we got in return.

Hi. I am a lurker. I thought the dance was good considering the music, but thought I would put up what you are more likely to see at a Scottish Ceilidh.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvHeTArCnYQ.

You don't have to watch or watch it all the way through.

Anyway back to lurkdom.
