I'm sure Tila got her fee and was only put in for the publicity kicking her out would generate (a simple google search found that image instantly).

Sounds about spot on to me.

Some great points here. Isn't the estimate of indigenous American folk we Europeans wiped out something like 44 million?

What I said was "IF this is true...", that particular article said it was a joke.

Well, he has nothing to do with what Biggins did. I was discussing the public's response to what he has said. I was referring anything Biggins may have said, which could have caused him to be ejected from the house. The bisexual comment being one of the things he said. I also mentioned that a lot of people have been talking about his comment, including Tatchell. He is a notable figure on the LGBT scene, so that is why I quoted him in particular. That is not weird in that context, I don't think? I could have mentioned a few other people, also. But he actually say that about paedophilia? And if so, then yes, I think that is appalling. No need to bite my head off, though.

Oh for goodness sake, whatever he has said, either about bi-sexuals or nazi,s, he is entitled to voice his pov and we are entitled to hear it. Can the media stop treating us like special snowflakes? If Biggins makes stupid comments i don,t agree with ie bisexuals, i just think, well thats not right and move on with my life, i might think he is ridiculous for saying it and i certainly don,t share his views but, come on, i don,t need protecting from what he has to say.

It is difficult to judge without knowing exactly what he said, but Hitler, Jewish and holocaust jokes were once popular among the people who actually fought against the Nazis, and those who welcomed Jewish people who escaped into their homes and country.
It is the intention behind the words that make it offensive or not.

I agree, Oathy. They are stark raving bonkers. I dont care if they remove everyone who does the slightest thing that might be offensive, and I dont care if they let people do and say whatever they want and fight to death, But I wish they were consistent with what is acceptable or not. It appears that people are kept or thrown out on nothing but a whim.

Depends on the joke. I'm all for free speech, but if someone says something offence that person should except the consequences.

It's only words, unless someone is inciting violence people should be allowed to say what they wish.
Who gets to decide what's acceptable now?

BB has rules so free speech isn't the issue.

Not that BB is consistent with its rules.

With the amount of money they probably paid to have him there, I would hardly expect that he was removed on a "whim". On the contrary, I thought he was the one they would try to manipulate to the title, which means it must have been pretty bad.

Thanks for your reply, and I'm sorry if I looked like I was biting your head off - I wasn't at all. I was just very shocked to see Peter Tatchell mentioned on here at all, but actually it's a great call because I think now (hopefully) one or two more may look into his views on adults having sexual relations with children that I quoted (published in a number of national newspapers no less).

If this man still has any connection at all to the LGBT community whatsoever a lot more education on this man is needed imho.

Here's another quote from him:

He gave an example of a New Guinea tribe where ‘all young boys have sex with older warriors as part of their initiation into manhood’ and allegedly grow up to be ‘happy, well-adjusted husbands and fathers.

‘The positive nature of some child-adult sexual relationships is not confined to non-Western cultures. Several of my friends – gay and straight, male and female – had sex with adults from the ages of nine to 13. None feel they were abused. All say it was their conscious choice and gave them great joy.'

such is the way of the world....and complete bollocks if you ask me.....the notion that the country would be traumatized by a joke/comment that some B-list bozo comes out with on a show that nobody watches anymore is a little strange to say the least.....

I thought it was HM that was upset by his comment?

I totally see the hypocrisy in big brother allowing bear Et Al continue but they should be all out.

I think there's simply more going on than just one incident though

I can see why you would be appalled, and quite rightly so. Apologies for misinterpreting your shock and for being rude. I honestly had no idea that he said those things, and I am appalled, there is no justification for it in any way, shape or form. Was he called to task about his comments? I guess he views child-adult sexual exploitation as less serious than a few things Biggins has said. But yes, it is good to raise awareness, because some of us may not know about these views. Thank you!

You weren't rude at all and I didn't take it as such, just as a natural reaction from someone who didn't know the history of the man I was very shocked to read he is still a LGBT 'figurehead' after all that's come out in the last few years...but then I know more than most, as I fought so hard for the truth (which we never got) after the Jimmy Savile expose (and no I'm not comparing Tatchell to him whatsoever).

He's been called to answer about his comments a number of times, and always slimed his way around them ('I was misinterpreted blah blah blah' - imho). He wrote that letter to the national press in black and white, and the statement is black and white.

Folk like him flock around the LGBT community an awful lot and that community needs to be very careful of such people imho.

Peace

I dont understand what you mean by" folk like him" flocking around the LGBT community.
Gay people are no more or less likely to be creeps, nutters or even paedophiles than heterosexual people. Why would anyone flock?
