nothing said by Biggins is an accident and maybe C5 are not prepared to whitewash Biggins like ITV did on IAC

I never looked at IAC the same way since the year Biggins was on

no doubt he will come up smelling of roses after damage limitation meetings between his management and BB bosses

And look! You're not one bit influenced by their disrespect, indeed you are showing exactly the same amount of respect that you already had, despite the badgering. Just goes to show....

But that doesn't explain your claim...."Biggins is one of the nicest people on TV"

Also I'd reserve judgement on comparing him to a saint when, we don't actually know exactly why he was removed.

To some yes and to others no, thatcwas my point. From biggins, he could use the age, PC excuse if it was some kind d of luvvie insider humour. Some vague jew being big in TV/banking/thrifty joke could be excused.

I want his comments to have no excuse and be clearly messed up and beyond a crap joke.

Which made me oddly happy. I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase “politically correct” wherever we could with “treating other people with respect”, and it made me smile.

You should try it. It’s peculiarly enlightening.

I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking “Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!””

You don't think it is, can be or ever has stifled debate or prevented action with issues such as female genital mutilation, misogyny, homophobia in certain cultures, gang crime and child sex gangs then?

Everything anyone says is capable of causing offence to someone.

There is no 'joke' in the world worthy of being ejected. Doesn't matter what was said or if anyone got upset.

That's a common media trick to get a story out there whilst getting around libel laws. They must think it's true. It probably is a reasonably accurate representation. Still not worthy of ejection if true.

All very weird. I think Channel 5 are shitting themselves now. This guy will have lawyers, friends and contacts that could shit all over channel 5.

As will happen to the 'outraged' when they're older. It's part of the propaganda system we live in.

If they haven't shown Biggins former 3 warnings, and not even mentioned them for fear of causing offence, why couldn't they just do it again this time.

Unless it was malicious then what is the issue.

People say things in jest all the time.

Im never ever offended by words, only the intent behind them

Strikes me as utterly pointless removing him, if a) they've ignored every other incident and b)they're not going to show what he said to get him removed

I will decide if and when I'm offended, not someone else

Channel 5 choose not the public.
This is why they got rid of live feed.

I suppose it rather depends on whether it could be classed as "hate speech"

Hate Speech is when the intent is to spread hatred.

Biggins was larking about. Controversial YES Offensive NO

According to the wiki link, it can also be "expressions of hate" towards those groups, not neccessarily with the intent to spread it.

I'd agree. Even if his comments were 'offensive', that may not necessarily be a reason to remove him. I don't think we've ever seen a situation where someone shouted "you f***ing (racial slur)" at another HM during an argument. It's always about people dropping into a conversation comments likely to cause offence to viewers, whatever on earth that means.

Maybe they didn't throw him out in case it offened you but in case it offened other people.

I hate the attitude that If it doesn't offend me it shouldn't offend anybody else.

It doesn't matter whether you (or me or other individual viewers) are offended or not.

BB has to follow certain rules as a condition of C5's broadcasting licence.
